Two gopchang plates plus 6,900-won fried rice in Mokdong: Omokgyo

What Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch looks like, inside and out

It had been a while since I went out for gopchang (grilled beef intestine) with my girlfriend. This time we visited Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, near Omokgyo Station. I've always liked gopchang, so I looked for a place around Omokgyo. Since it was just the two of us, ordering only one menu item felt like it would be a shame, so we ordered both the gopchang and the mixed gopchang. When we arrived, I took some photos of the exterior first.

That day I visited with my girlfriend. We've both been busy lately, so it had been a while since we sat down together over a meal and just talked. Once we sat down, we checked the menu.

Since it was just the two of us, ordering only one dish felt like a waste, so we ordered the handmade garlic gopchang and the mixed gopchang together.

What we ordered:

• Traditional handmade garlic gopchang 200g — ₩28,900
• Mixed gopchang 200g — ₩27,900
• Omokgyo fried rice (1–2 servings) — ₩6,900

Even though there were two of us, we decided to order two kinds of gopchang instead of just one. And we planned to finish with fried rice at the end.

Garlic gopchang vs mixed gopchang: how the two plates tasted

First we tried the traditional handmade garlic gopchang.

Having gopchang after a long time made me feel like we'd picked the right dinner. We ate slowly while chatting about this and that with my girlfriend.

Next we tried the mixed gopchang too. If we'd only ordered one dish, it would have felt a little lacking, but ordering two let us switch back and forth between them. If you're visiting as a couple, splitting the menu like this seems like a good idea.

Since it had been a while since we'd had gopchang together, we ate slowly while talking.

We also ordered the mixed gopchang together, alternating between the two dishes. Ordering several dishes rather than just one let us compare them a bit. Overall, everything was savory, chewy, and just delicious.

Finishing with Omokgyo fried rice for 6,900 won

After we'd eaten a good amount of gopchang, we also ordered the Omokgyo fried rice.

After gopchang, it's often hard to skip the fried rice, and that day we ended up ordering it too. The fried rice wasn't too heavily seasoned and was really tasty. We chatted over the meal, and since we'd both been busy lately, it turned into a relaxed dinner together for the first time in a while.

We cooked the fried rice until it started to crisp up on the pan — you absolutely have to order the fried rice. Overall, this visit was great because it was a relaxed, comfortable dinner with my girlfriend after a while apart. The restaurant was busy, but it was still a good place to talk. I'd recommend it if you're looking for a gopchang or Korean BBQ restaurant near Omokgyo Station. If you're looking for a Mokdong restaurant for a company dinner, it's worth checking the menu lineup before visiting.

This time we ordered garlic gopchang and mixed gopchang together, but next time I'd like to try some other menu items too. Personally, both the garlic gopchang and the mixed gopchang were really delicious, and the staff at Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch were kind — overall it was a comfortable meal and a good visit!
