I usually have a lot of plans, so days when I eat alone are rare, but today I really just wanted a quiet solo meal. Still, no way I'm skipping protein, right?

So I went into Ola Poke Gangnam — already my Nth visit — for a solo lunch.

How to walk there from Gangnam Station Exit 4

Building entrance leading into Ola Poke Gangnam

Come in through here.

Orange POKE&SALAD sign behind the bottle shop

Behind the bottle shop is an all-orange building. The POKE&SALAD sign really stands out, so it wasn't hard to find.

It's a bit of a dungeon-like layout though, so watch out — you can easily go the wrong way.

But once you actually get there, the colorful HOLA POKE stickers on the glass entrance door catch your eye.

Solo bar seats and the self-serve tea bar at Ola Poke Gangnam

2-seat table on the left of the store entrance

Right as you walk in, there's a 2-seat table on the left, so it's fine for two people as well.

Wall-facing solo bar seats with a phone stand

Further inside, there were separate wall-facing solo bar seats. They even had phone stands, which made solo dining really comfortable. Perfect for catching up on Made in Korea 2.

Self-serve bar with utensils, wet wipes, and rooibos tea

The self-serve bar had utensils, wet wipes, cups, and even warm rooibos tea — everything you'd need was there. You order at the kiosk next to the door.

Ola Poke Gangnam menu prices and the sauce combos to pick

Recommended sauce combo chart on the wall

This is the recommended sauce combo chart on the wall. It said the Super Protein Poke comes with a sesame soy / sriracha mayo combo.

Menu board with poke and salad prices

According to the menu board, the Original Tuna Sashimi Poke was ₩12,000 (the highest protein content), while my Super Protein Poke was ₩14,000 and the Custom Salad Wrap was ₩7,500.

Super Protein Poke, 14,000 won: how much salmon and chicken breast?

Super Protein Poke topped with raw salmon, chicken breast, and avocado

Here's the Super Protein Poke for ₩14,000. The raw salmon, chicken breast, and avocado were genuinely huge portions — I was surprised by the amount as soon as I got it.

Sesame soy sauce and sriracha mayo sauce served separately

The sesame soy sauce and sriracha mayo sauce came separately, so I could drizzle them on to taste.

They put in what looked like half an avocado whole, so scooping up a spoonful gave you these thick slices. Creamy and fresh — the flavor really came through.

Chicken breast shredded along the grain with chickpeas and lentils

The chicken breast was shredded softly along the grain, so it wasn't dry — it was moist. Chickpeas and lentils were mixed in too, adding some texture to chew on.

Thickly sliced raw salmon topped with flying fish roe

The raw salmon was cut into big chunks, giving it a satisfying bite, and you could definitely tell it was fresh. The flying fish roe popped too, which made the texture fun.

But I think the real kick here was the seaweed? The crunchy, springy texture was goat.

Custom Salad Wrap, 7,500 won: the wasabi sauce is the kick

Cross-section of Custom Salad Wrap packed with chicken breast and vegetables

For the Custom Salad Wrap at ₩7,500, I chose chicken breast as the main topping. Cutting it open, it was packed full of vegetables, chicken breast, and corn. The wasabi sauce was spicy with a tingling bite, so I kept reaching for more.

A small bag of nuts given along with the meal

They even threw in some nuts when handing it over, so I got a snack out of it too.

Is Ola Poke Gangnam worth it for a solo meal?

It's a place where you can eat filling and satisfying food without feeling awkward about dining alone, so I think I'll be back for solo meals near Gangnam Station. Recommended for days when you want to load up on protein.
