There are plenty of restaurants around Geomdan Sageori, but when you're looking for a menu everyone from kids to grandparents can enjoy, pork is always the answer.

Even though it was a late Sunday evening, Taedon Geomdan Sageori Branch had a lot of families in. There was also a sign saying that children age 5 and under get bone broth for free.

When you go out to eat with a kid, it can be tricky having nothing to feed them — so I have to give props for the bone broth service.

We had a reservation, so let's get right into ordering.

Taedon Geomdan Sageori menu and what the family ordered

We ordered the small mixed pork platter for 36,000 won and tofu cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) for 7,000 won.

This is the basic pork setup. They also give you flat dumplings, and wrapping them in the complimentary jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) is honestly delicious.

That's the complimentary jjolmyeon. They could easily sell this as its own dish, so getting it free felt really generous.

We put on the plastic gloves they gave us and mixed it up. As we mixed, the tangy smell got our appetites going.

Now we were ready to eat.

This is the magic ssamjang (seasoned soybean paste). Not tteokbokki-chewy, but ssamjang-chewy — what a clever idea.

Can't just eat meat, so we grilled some vegetables alongside it.

And the complimentary steamed egg!!!

How was the whole tofu cheonggukjang at Taedon?

Taedon's tofu cheonggukjang, at 7,000 won, came with whole tofu exactly as the name suggests. I ordered it because I like cheonggukjang, but I didn't expect whole tofu to be in there too.

It was fun mashing up the tofu as I ate.

How does the assorted Korean pork taste off the grill?

With Taedon's small mixed pork platter, once the grill heats up and they lay the meat on piece by piece, the sizzling sound alone gets your appetite going. I tried the nicely browned meat plain first, without any sides, and could really taste the savory flavor and juiciness.

With the meat ready, we ordered a bottle of beer to go with it.

As the fatty parts browned on the grill and that savory aroma rose up, that was the hardest moment to wait through.

Taking a bite of the well-cooked pork belly, the crispy outside and moist inside made for a great texture.

After trying the meat plain, we enjoyed it in various ways with wraps and sides.

Taedon, a Geomdan Sageori pork favorite, also had a highball event running, so we ordered two highballs.

Once we finished one round of meat, we put on a fresh batch — you can't let the meat-eating momentum break, right?

Ah, we also snacked on the grilled vegetables now and then. They're light, and grilling them in the pork fat made them even tastier.

Is Taedon a good spot for a family dinner in Geomdan, Incheon?

The ice cream from the review event capped off a clean weekend meal. The mixed pork platter, with pork belly and various other cuts, suited a Geomdan family dinner well. It was also nice being able to try several different cuts evenly and eat them however each person liked with wraps and sides. It's a good spot to visit on a day you want a hearty family dinner, or when you're craving pork for a weekend outing.
