Gwanggyo date-night restaurant, burrata margherita pizza: The European
In short
The European Gwanggyo is a wood-fired pizza restaurant tucked inside the Gwanggyo café street in Suwon, Gyeonggi. On a weekend evening the writer and her husband took a reserved table on the second floor and ordered the burrata margherita pizza at 28,000 won and the charcuterie oil casarecce with fresh pasta at 23,000 won, and both the chewy oven-baked dough and the curly fresh noodles hit the mark. Between the food and the setting, The European Gwanggyo works just as well for anniversaries or a second date.

Today's story is about The European Gwanggyo, a great restaurant on the Gwanggyo café street with wonderful atmosphere. My husband and I hadn't been on a date on the Gwanggyo café street in a while, and the vibe of the restaurant and the food were both amazing — The European Gwanggyo was the best! If you're looking for a good restaurant on the Gwanggyo café street, I highly recommend this place.
Where The European Gwanggyo is, and where to park

The European Gwanggyo is located inside the Gwanggyo café street. You can park in front of the restaurant, and if there's no spot, it's easy to park in the 2nd public parking lot instead! The address of the 2nd lot is 1297-1 Uiui-dong, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea.
We visited on a weekend and there was no spot in the parking lot, so we ended up parking on the roadside... haha.

Booking a table and the private rooms
The European Gwanggyo also takes advance reservations — both Naver Reservation and Catchtable work. There are also private rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors (min. 6, max. 8 people), which are great for small group gatherings.
Inside The European Gwanggyo: the second-floor seats
Here's the interior. The restaurant is split into 1st and 2nd floors, and when you go up the stairs right in front of the entrance, the staff will guide you to your seat.

The atmosphere was great right from the stairwell — soft music mixed with the smell of delicious food..! The service was really good too.

When you go up to the 2nd floor, the tables are set up like this. We had booked in advance so there was a reservation sign on our table. Once you're seated, you just order through the kiosk.
The weather was nice that day, with a gentle breeze, so the view from the 2nd floor was really lovely. Besides us, there were all sorts of groups — families, couples, and more. With such a nice atmosphere, it's a perfect spot for a special occasion, a gathering, or a second date!
The tables were spacious, and water, cups, plates and cutlery were already set on the table.

The tableware and dishes at The European Gwanggyo are pretty too, making it a great spot for photos. The plated dishes that came out later were also super pretty...♥
The European Gwanggyo menu and how much dinner costs

Before the menu, first — the Naver review event! They're running an event where you get a can of Sprite for writing a Naver review. Since it's a restaurant, drinks were a bit pricey, so make sure to write that Naver review haha.
This was the page for requesting extras from staff — you can ask for extra water, pickles, utensils, and side plates.

From salads (burrata cheese, caesar) to arancini, steak, fries, and The European's signature wood-fired pizzas and pastas! Many of the wood-fired pizzas came topped with burrata. Prices ranged from the mid-₩20,000s to low-₩30,000s. They also sell wine (glasses of champagne, house wine), and right now there's a free corkage event running~!
Burrata margherita pizza, 28,000 won
We ordered burrata margherita pizza for ₩28,000 and salumeria oil casarecce (fresh pasta) for ₩23,000.

First up, the burrata margherita pizza! The European Gwanggyo is a wood-fired pizza restaurant run by a chef who used to work at The Shilla Hotel! They bake in a handmade Neapolitan pizza oven officially certified by the Naples Pizza Association, and use Sorrentina cheese, made in the traditional Naples style. If you visit The European, definitely order the pizza!! I highly recommend it.

The pizza comes in four slices, a perfect size for two people to share. Since it's wood-fired, the dough was chewy and fluffy, and it was piled high with toppings.

Since it was freshly baked, you could catch a gentle whiff of bread too. The pizza dough was so chewy and delicious I kept wanting more. The burrata cheese inside was great, and the tomato sauce and basil aroma were the best.

Charcuterie oil casarecce fresh pasta, 23,000 won
Next up, the salumeria oil casarecce pasta! The noodles were so unique that I was really curious about this dish. Being fresh pasta made it even more special. The curly noodles had a chewy texture and were thick, so it was quite filling.

The default side dish was pickled radish. It was tangy, so it was great as a palate cleanser! It was so good I asked for a second serving haha.
I thought the pizza looked a bit small and wondered if it would be enough, but the portion turned out to be quite generous! We had plenty to eat. Salumeria refers to smoked processed meats, and there was a generous amount of jambon piled on top.
The jalapeños mixed in gave the dish a spicy kick that made it even more appetizing. It wasn't an oil pasta, and it wasn't a tomato or rosé pasta either.. it was a unique flavor I'd never tried before! Surprisingly, I kept reaching for more.

Is The European Gwanggyo worth it for two?
There were plenty of other menu items too, and the atmosphere and food were both so good that I'd want to come back any time I'm in Gwanggyo. With a wide variety of dishes — steak, pizza, pasta, risotto, salad and more — it's a place everyone can enjoy, regardless of age or gender.

If you visit The European on the Gwanggyo café street, definitely order the pizza...!!!! You'll get to taste some truly proper wood-fired pizza~!
