Gimhae Yulha gopchang hot pot ordered extra spicy: Miracle Yang
In short
Miracle Yang Gopchang is a beef tripe and gopchang hot pot restaurant on Yulha 7-ro in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, run by an owner who ran a tripe house in Sangnam-dong, Changwon for years before moving to Yulha and renaming the place. The order was gopchang jeongol (tripe hot pot) for two, requested extra spicy in advance, plus udon noodles and fried rice for three. The daechang (large intestine) was tender and nutty rather than chewy, and the sharp, spicy broth kept the whole pot from tasting heavy.

What kind of restaurant is Miracle Yang Gopchang?
Miracle Yang Gopchang is a beef tripe (yang) and gopchang (small intestine) hot pot restaurant at 41 Yulha 7-ro, 101-ho, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's open daily from 4 PM to midnight, and parking is available.

I came to Yulha to eat gamjatang (pork bone soup) a while back and noticed a gopchang place nearby — I remember thinking, 'I should come eat here next time.' That was Miracle Yang Gopchang. I'd been craving gopchang jeongol (tripe hot pot) again recently, looked it up, and found out this place was supposed to be great for it. Turns out I already knew it! The owner used to run a yang gopchang place in Sangnam-dong, Changwon for a long time before moving to Yulha. Since the name changed I didn't realize at first, but the moment I walked in and saw the owner, I went, 'Oh!' and recognized them right away haha.

Inside Miracle Yang Gopchang: atmosphere and service
If you used to go to that yang gopchang place in Sangnam-dong, you can just come to Miracle Yang Gopchang in Yulha now. My dad used to go there often too, so this was a place I'd visit sometimes when I wanted daechang (large intestine) or gopchang jeongol.
Even though it's a daechang restaurant, which usually means oily floors, the place was not slippery at all — clean and comfortable. The owner and staff were also all friendly, so I got to eat in a great mood.

What we ordered, and the free corkage rule
We were craving a spicy hot pot today, so we ordered the jeongol for two, plus udon noodles and hot-pot fried rice — went all out. The grilled version here is great too, so definitely try that as well.
Oh, and one more thing — Miracle Yang Gopchang, a gopchang and meat restaurant in Gimhae, also does corkage. If you bring alcohol that's not sold in the store, corkage is free.

The banchan spread at Miracle Yang Gopchang
The basic banchan (side dishes) were generous too — I think the sides differ slightly between the hot pot order and the grilled order, but we got stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried anchovies, pickled onion, stir-fried dried shrimp, garlic pickles, and macaroni salad. This was the first time I got this many sides with a hot pot order haha.

How does the gopchang hot pot taste ordered extra spicy?
The gopchang jeongol at Miracle Yang Gopchang comes out already simmered a bit, so it was ready to eat faster than expected. We like it spicy, so I mentioned that when ordering, and got a nicely spicy hot pot. Totally my taste. The owner's wife came out and said if we wanted it spicier, she'd add cheongyang chili peppers — so, so kind.

The hot pot has both daechang and gopchang in it, and the daechang was really plump, savory, and rich. But since the broth was spicy, there was zero greasiness — it was the best. It's a flavor I've eaten since I was a kid, so it brought back a lot of memories.

Glass noodles come standard too — you can't have gopchang jeongol without noodles in it!!! There's a minced garlic flavor that Koreans can't help but love.

Look, look — see how plump the daechang is? Zero chewiness, all savory goodness! There was a pretty generous amount of gopchang in there too.

The broth — honestly, what more is there to say. The owner said it gets tastier the more it reduces, but it was delicious even before that.. I'm a broth person, so I scooped up and ate all the broth before it had a chance to reduce down haha.

Adding udon noodles to the hot pot
I felt like we needed more noodles so I ordered the udon add-on — and yeah, gopchang jeongol really isn't complete without udon noodles. Eating it together with the cabbage and chives was the finishing touch. It's great as a drinking snack, but I'd honestly recommend gopchang jeongol as a full meal too.

Finishing with fried rice for three
You can't skip the essential K-dessert: fried rice. Honestly I was really craving carbs today so I ordered 3 servings haha. Way too much.. the owner must have a generous hand, because the portion was huge. I felt bad leaving a little behind..

Fried up with kimchi, dried seaweed flakes, and the leftover vegetables from the hot pot, it was the perfect dessert!! I had such a great time eating delicious gopchang jeongol again after a while. I'm planning to go back again soon. If you're looking for a good gopchang and meat restaurant in Gimhae, I highly recommend Miracle Yang Gopchang.
