Aged sashimi platter and grilled merou with drinks at Gapposo, Gasan
In short
Gapposo is an omakase and sushi restaurant on the 1st floor of Hyundai Terra Tower near Gasan Digital Complex Station in Geumcheon, Seoul. The writer ordered the aged sashimi platter for 28,000 won per person and grilled merou (Chilean sea bass) for 26,000 won alongside soju-beer cocktails, plus a crispy mini karaage from a Naver review event. Between the umami-rich aged sashimi and the moist grilled merou, it was a satisfying fish plate to drink to in Gasan.

I hadn't been in a while, so I stopped by "Gapposo," a Japanese restaurant in Gasan with a great atmosphere and fresh seafood.
Gapposo is an omakase and sushi specialty restaurant run by a chef who was reportedly the head chef of a 5-star hotel's Japanese restaurant, so I went in with high expectations — and I was very satisfied.

How to get there from Gasan Digital Complex Station

It's really close to Gasan Digital Complex Station and sits on the 1st floor of Hyundai Terra Tower, so it wasn't hard to find. The exterior gives off a Japanese restaurant vibe right from the entrance, with an eye-catching arched wooden design, and a menu board stands out front so you can check the menu beforehand.
Interior atmosphere and room seating

The interior isn't huge, but the soft lighting makes it bright, clean, and calm. There are several tables in the middle, and while the spacing between tables is a bit tight, the tables themselves are wide enough that it wasn't uncomfortable.
Toward the back there's also a standalone table and a seat that can be curtained off, and across from it is a private table area.
The restroom is right past the back of the dining area, so it's very convenient to use. And it's super clean too!!
There were coat racks and personal lockers as well. I noticed a sign for lunch box takeout, so it looks like takeout is available too.
Menu lineup and what we ordered

Aw, such cute chopstick rests ㅠ.ㅠ And the water here tastes really good.

There was a Naver reservation event notice on the table, so check it out and join in if you'd like.

And here comes a fairly upscale-looking menu.

The menu is divided into single-piece sushi, lunch sets, dinner sets, sushi courses, sashimi, drinking snacks, and beverages. You can order aged sushi starting from a single piece, and there are also two-person sets and omakase courses. There was a wide range of drinks and sake too — quite a few types of Japanese sake, so it seemed like a good place to eat with drinks.
Since we were there to drink, we ordered dishes that would work well as drinking snacks.

How was the aged sashimi platter?

The food came out not long after we ordered. Here's the mini karaage (Japanese fried chicken) we got from the Naver review event, along with the aged sashimi platter we ordered. Since the grilled merou needs to be cooked, they told us that would take a bit longer.

Even though it was just a complimentary karaage, I was genuinely surprised at how good it was. Super crispy, the seasoning was delicious, and it paired really well with the salad — I demolished it in no time.

The aged sashimi platter came out with 6 types of fish on one plate, 2 pieces of each — the plating was clean and pretty.

We love sashimi but aren't exactly experts, so we ate without really knowing what each fish was. That green herb, though — it was nutty and really tasty.

The fish was sliced quite thick, and being aged, it had more umami than regular sashimi and went down clean without any heaviness.

Overall every piece was delicious, but that red one (probably tuna) just melted in my mouth — so good, the kind of flavor that makes the drinks go down easy!
How the grilled merou tasted

And then the grilled merou arrived. It was cut into thick pieces and grilled, with the outside lightly charred and the inside still moist.

I usually love grilled merou and always order it at izakayas, but this place's grilled merou was seriously so good.

Thanks to the great food, we finished our soju-beer cocktails! If you're in the Gasan area and want proper sashimi with a Japanese atmosphere, this is a great place to visit. Especially if you like the taste of aged sashimi, you'll likely leave quite satisfied. There's also a wide variety of set meals, so it's good for lunch or dinner, and works well for company dinners, casual meals out, or dates!
