Changwon charcoal grill restaurant for spicy garlic sauce: Shashlik
In short
Shashlik Masan Branch is a charcoal-grill restaurant in Changwon, Gyeongnam, near Gapo and Deokdong. I tried assorted shashlik and cheese fried rice, and the spicy garlic sauce was the standout. Shashlik Masan Branch is a relaxed stop after a drive.

A good stop after a Gapo drive
It is on the second floor at 7 Deokdongnam 1-gil, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea. The restaurant's dedicated parking lot is right next door and was quite spacious. It is open daily from 11:00 to 22:00, regularly closed on Tuesdays, and dogs are welcome too.

The weather has been so nice lately that it felt like a shame to stay home. I headed toward Gapo to enjoy a drive and eat something delicious for the first time in a while. Since people often drive when visiting Gapo or Deokdong, I always make sure to check whether parking is easy when choosing somewhere to eat. I wanted to introduce this spot because it is nice when you want to enjoy a drive around Gapo and have a good meal too.

The parking area was fairly spacious, so it was a comfortable place to visit by car. Most people heading to Gapo for a meal will probably be driving, and even if you find a great restaurant, it can be pretty inconvenient when there is nowhere suitable to park. That is why I liked not having to worry so much about parking here. The surroundings also had a relaxed feel, making it nice for a drive on a beautiful day. It was fun to look around at the scenery before the food arrived, too.

A cat greeted me as I went in. It was such a calm and dignified cat.

Window views and a relaxed interior
The wide-open windows made it even nicer because I could eat while looking at the view. It definitely had a more relaxed atmosphere than a restaurant in the middle of the city, so it felt a little like I had come out for some fresh air rather than just a meal.

Taking in the view before the food arrived. The weather lately is seriously unreal—in a good way.

Here is the menu!

There is a review event too, so it might be worth trying. ZeroPay is accepted as well!

The campfire is available from the evening on weekdays and from daytime on weekends.

What are the seats like for dates and family meals?
The atmosphere was so lovely that it seemed perfect for a date! I really recommend it to anyone looking for a slightly different date spot.

It had an overall comfortable atmosphere for a meal, so it was good for a date as a couple or for visiting with family. High chairs are available and dogs are welcome, so it seemed like an easy place for anyone to visit! There was watermelon hwachae (Korean fruit punch) as this month's event. It would be nice as dessert after the meal.

Assorted shashlik and spicy garlic sauce
The sauces that came out after ordering. Every single sauce was really delicious?! They cut through the richness that the meat can sometimes have. Definitely try the spicy garlic sauce in particular.

The tables were not packed tightly together; partitions were installed here and there, so there was a sense of separation from the next table. It was not a fully private space, but it had just enough privacy to make talking over a meal comfortable. There are also private rooms and group seats, so it looked suitable for gatherings or family meals.

I liked that the charcoal-grilled meat came fully prepared rather than needing to be continuously grilled at the table. When eating meat, one person often has to keep an eye on the grill, but here I could focus on the meal right away without that hassle.

Personally, when I look around for good restaurants in Masan, I often come across places selling similar menus, but Shashlik felt a little different starting with the atmosphere. It seemed like a good place to recommend to people looking for restaurants in Masan, especially because it is ideal for taking care of a meal after a drive toward Gapo. Save a few grilled vegetables to eat with the fried rice..!! I do not usually eat grilled pineapple, but everything here was delicious?!!

I ordered the assorted shashlik, and it was nice to be able to try several kinds of meat at once. The pork in particular came charcoal-grilled, with a nicely browned exterior and the meat's clean, savory flavor coming through well.

Finishing with cheese fried rice
After the meat, I ordered cheese fried rice too. Meat alone can leave you wanting a little more, but the warm fried rice topped generously with cheese worked well as a finishing dish. As the cheese melted, it naturally blended into the fried rice and added a rich, nutty flavor. Eating it after the meat, I found myself reaching for it again and again. If you love cheese in particular, it would be nice to order it with the meat and finish with fried rice.
