Late-night gamjatang restaurant in Gimhae Yulha: Ppyeodae Itneun

In short

Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch is a hanok-style gamjatang (pork bone stew) and haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant at 40 Yulha 7-ro in Gimhae, Gyeongnam. Arriving after 8:30 PM, the writer ordered the 4-person gamjatang deluxe set with egg gondre hot-pot rice and two bowls of rice, then added unlimited chewy hand-torn noodles and ramen noodles from the self-serve bar. The set was so generous that four chunks of meat went home in a takeout box, with a dessert slushie to finish.

Today I went and had gamjatang (pork bone stew), which I love!? The visuals alone were amazing so I wanted to recommend this place, and here I am!

Arriving at 8:30 PM: the hanok-style exterior and spacious dining room

Since I went after my partner finished work, I ended up visiting past 8:30pm!? Even though it was late, there were still quite a few customers there haha. The exterior has this hanok (traditional Korean house) feel, and with the lights on it really caught the eye and looked pretty!?

Spacious hanok-style interior dining room

The inside also has that hanok feel, which I love~~💛 The place is spacious too, so it seemed like a great spot for group gatherings, work dinners, or family meals out! The self-serve bar was also spacious and looked easy to use!

What can you take from the unlimited self-serve bar?

At the Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch self-serve bar, you can take unlimited glass noodles, chewy dumplings, twin rice cakes, potatoes, and ramen noodles. Basic side dishes and sauces can also be refilled at the self bar, so if you run out, just help yourself!

And what I really loved was being able to add noodles unlimited times! It seemed like a great deal for people who like adding extra noodles haha.

And there was also a spot for hot-pot rice, plus a slushie ready for dessert! I immediately started thinking about having a slushie after finishing my meal haha.

Tablet ordering and what comes in the 4-person gamjatang deluxe set

Ordering by tablet at each table was convenient, and paper cups, pepper, and wet wipes were all neatly arranged, which I really liked,,💛 Spoons and napkins are under the table!

There were various kinds of gamjatang and haejangguk (hangover soup) on the tablet! We ordered the 4-person gamjatang deluxe set + egg gondre hot-pot rice + rice pot + 2 bowls of rice and waited haha.

While waiting, our basic side dishes arrived with a buzz haha. The kimchi and diced radish kimchi looked delicious just by sight, so I tried them right away — since it was freshly made kimchi, it was sweet, crunchy, and spicy!

Then the gamjatang arrived,, I was so surprised by the visuals,, the look was amazing!? The meat was already fully cooked, so they said once the napa cabbage and broth boil a little, it's ready to eat haha.

Skate salad, marinated crab and pressed pork: how the set's side dishes taste

I was surprised by the visuals of the 4-person gamjatang at this Gimhae Yulha restaurant, but then skate salad, marinated crab, jellyfish boiled meat, and garlic boiled meat all came out too, filling up the whole table so generously!!!😝 I got so excited,,ㅠㅠㅠ I was eager to eat, so I got ready to take a bite right away!

The skate salad looked so delicious, so I started with that,, and took a bite!?haha

Picking up a piece of garlic boiled meat

The seasoning on the skate salad was exactly to my taste, and it wasn't even spicy, so it was delicious! The marinated crab was packed full of meat!? The seasoning was spicy, but pleasantly spicy, so even I, who can't handle spice well, ate it well haha. As for the boiled meats, I like garlic too, but the jellyfish was even more delicious, so I think I ate more of the jellyfish boiled meat!

Gamjatang pork, broth and gondre hot-pot rice together

Now the gamjatang was bubbling away and ready to eat!?

A piece of gamjatang meat with napa cabbage

Taking a bite of the napa cabbage and meat together, it was so spicy and delicious ㅜ This really was a solid Gimhae Yulha restaurant🥹 The meat on the gamjatang literally fell off the bone the moment chopsticks touched it! The meat was cooked so well! The bones came apart easily too, and I was so satisfied! Even so, the meat wasn't tough at all — it was tender, so it went down smoothly too!

While eating the gamjatang, the gondre (thistle greens) hot-pot rice arrived! It came with a sauce for mixing the gondre, so you can add sauce to your taste and mix it up!

I ate the gondre bibimbap together with the meat, and I thought they wouldn't go well together, but the combination turned out to be surprisingly great!?

Adding chewy hand-torn noodles and ramen noodles

After thoroughly finishing the gamjatang, I went to the self bar and brought back chewy dumplings and ramen noodles, added them in, and waited for them to bubble and cook haha.

Kyaahh, ramen, hurry up and cook!

Eating it with the broth, it was absolutely perfect ㅠ Me, a gamjatang lover, already wanting to go back,,🤍 Noting down this Gimhae Yulha restaurant, Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang,,

Restrooms, the dessert slushie, and taking the leftover pork home

The men's and women's restrooms were separate, and having the restroom inside the store was nice — the restroom was totally clean,, so nice🤍

A dessert slushie taken as the finishing touch

For dessert at the end, I thoroughly enjoyed a slushie, and the 4-person portion was so generous that four chunks of meat were left over, so we packed them to take home haha!

The portions were so generous, the self bar had so much variety, unlimited add-ins were great, and the whole spread came out so plentiful that we got to eat all kinds of things! The meat was cooked well too, not tough at all, tender, and I had a delicious, hearty dinner. The staff were also kind, which stuck with me — everyone knows being kind makes you want to come back, right!? Ppyeodae Itneun Haejangguk Gamjatang Yulha Branch, a solid Gimhae Yulha restaurant! I recommend visiting whenever you're craving gamjatang :)🖤
