Today I'm introducing a Korean restaurant near Samseong Station that was great for a filling meal — a real COEX go-to. Yangeunine Samseong Branch is known for pollack stew and squid bossam (boiled pork wraps with seasoned squid), and lately it's gotten even more attention from TV appearances. I ordered one of their signature dishes, the Yangeunine set.

  • 📍 50 Teheran-ro 83-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
  • 🕙 Daily 11:00–22:00

Yangeunine specializes in Korean dishes centered on pollack stew, squid bossam, and naengmyeon (cold noodles). They've got a wide range of options, from sets where you can enjoy several dishes at once to a lunch special menu. It's a good stop near COEX if you're after brothy Korean food or something to share with a group.

How to book a table at Yangeunine

You can reserve ahead through Naver Reservation. Besides the main hall, there's also a room, so it's great for office dinners or group get-togethers. If you follow them on Naver, you get a free squid pajeon (scallion pancake) coupon too — worth grabbing.

Parking near Yangeunine

There's no dedicated parking at the restaurant itself, so if you're driving, it's better to use a nearby lot. If you've got somewhere to be around Samseong Station or COEX, public transit is the more convenient option.

Yangeunine Samseong Branch isn't hard to find near Samseong Station. It's a convenient spot to stumble on while looking for a meal around COEX, and it felt like a natural lunch or dinner spot for the office workers in the area.

Hall seating and interior of Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch

Once inside, the overall vibe makes for comfortable dining. Since there are so many dishes meant to be shared — like the pollack stew or bossam — it felt more suited to groups of 2–4 splitting several dishes rather than solo dining. The staff were friendly too, which made the meal comfortable throughout.

There's also a room tucked inside the restaurant, good for a quieter meal or a group gathering.

The restroom is inside the restaurant too, convenient to use during the meal.

One wall is covered in celebrity autographs, which caught my eye. It's clear this place has had its share of TV and celebrity visits — recently SBS's Running Man even featured Yangeunine's pollack stew and algoni jjim (stewed fish roe and milt). Seeing the dishes in person after watching them on TV was fun. If you've been curious about the pollack stew from the show while looking for COEX Korean food, it's worth a stop.

The menu ranges widely, from pollack stew to squid bossam, bossam, and naengmyeon.

There's also a lunch special menu, great for a simpler meal during lunch hours.

Sign describing the Yangeunine set menu

I wanted to eat a lot of different things at once, so I went with the value-priced set menu.

Self-serve side dish corner

There's a self-bar set up in one corner of the restaurant where you can refill banchan (side dishes) yourself. Worth noting: rice is unlimited during lunch hours from 11:00 to 15:00, so it's easy to eat your fill. Side dishes are easy to grab more of too, which made it a good lunch option.

On the table there's even a guide on how to enjoy the pollack stew at its best. I gave it a read while waiting.

Tasting the Yangeunine set: pollack stew, squid bossam and bibim naengmyeon

The side dishes come out simple and tidy overall — bean sprout salad, seasoned radish, plus peppers, garlic, and ssamjang (dipping paste) to go with the bossam. Not a huge variety, but the basics pair well with the mains, making for a clean meal.

Here's the full Yangeunine set spread.

First, the pollack stew comes bubbling away in a big pot, so it stays warm to enjoy over a long meal. It's spicy but with a clean broth — great for spooning up a little between bites of bossam.

There's pollack roe and milt in with the fish meat, which paired well with rice too. Personally, eating it alongside the bossam worked well — one side mild, one side spicy.

The squid bossam came out generously piled on a large platter.

Steamed squid and pork bossam are the stars, with kimchi and seasoned chives rounding it out — so one plate gave a bunch of different flavors.

The pork bossam goes well with kimchi, and the squid pairs nicely with the seasoned chives or other sides.

Bossam and kimchi picked up together with chopsticks

Being able to try so many things at once is the real strength of the Yangeunine set, I think.

Try piling bossam, seasoned chives, garlic, and ssamjang onto a lettuce leaf and eating it in one bite. The mild bossam paired with the fresh greens really cut through the richness.

Bibim naengmyeon with a generous amount of spicy sauce

The bibim naengmyeon comes with a generous dollop of spicy sauce, tangy and spicy enough to wake up your appetite. Mustard sauce and vinegar are provided separately in single-use packets, which was nice for hygiene and letting you adjust to taste. If you prefer mul naengmyeon (cold broth) or bul naengmyeon (extra spicy), you can choose those instead when ordering the set.

Bibim naengmyeon wrapped up in lettuce for a wrap-style bite

You know bibim naengmyeon tastes even better wrapped up in lettuce, right? The crisp lettuce paired surprisingly well with the spicy noodles.

Is Yangeunine worth it for a good-value Korean meal near COEX?

The full set with pollack stew, squid bossam, and naengmyeon served together

The Yangeunine set I tried let me enjoy pollack stew, squid bossam, and naengmyeon all in one sitting — perfect for someone like me who wants to order a bit of everything. Pairing the spicy pollack stew with bossam and finishing with bibim naengmyeon made for a pretty filling meal. If you're looking for good-value Korean food near COEX or a spot to share with a group, I'd recommend Yangeunine Samseong Station Branch.

A glass of sujeonggwa served after the meal

Before you leave, be sure to have a glass of sujeonggwa (cinnamon-persimmon punch) to cleanse your palate.
