Warmed walnut pecan cookie and cream almond at Ieo Coffee, Mapo

In short

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch is a roastery café in Mapo, Seoul, tucked in a small alley between Daeheung and Gongdeok stations. The signature cream almond (almond einspänner) and a café latte came with an egg financier and a walnut pecan chocolate cookie warmed before serving, enjoyed at a window bar table. A great stop for coffee and dessert before or after a walk along the Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch is located in a small alley, but there seemed to be a lot of visitors.

Alley with café entrance and outdoor seating

I didn't notice at first, but looking at the photos I took, there were also outdoor seats! Now that it's gotten much cooler, the outdoor seating looks really nice too 😁

What are the indoor seats like?

There were a lot of customers inside so I couldn't take detailed photos, but the space is largely split into two areas.

There's the ordering counter and the space in front of it, and then the area in the photos below with the window bar table seats and group tables.

The space is compact but has a pretty comfortable atmosphere, which made it great for taking a short break while drinking coffee.

Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch near Daeheung Station is a roastery café also selling a variety of beans and drip bags, and it seems like a lot of people come just to buy beans.

I decided to try the signature cream almond (almond einspänner) from Ieo Coffee, my partner ordered a café latte, and we also ordered two desserts that looked delicious.

Our order at Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch near Daeheung Station arrived — both the coffee and desserts looked so delicious I had to grab my phone and take photos right away haha

Cream almond (almond einspänner) taste

Let me first introduce the cream almond coffee I chose! It's called an almond einspänner, apparently a cream latte where handmade almond cream is layered on top of Ieo Coffee's handmade almond latte!

A cup of cream almond topped with almond cream

The amount of cream looked so generous that I scooped it up with a spoon — I don't even know how to describe that deep nuttiness haha. The cream itself was really chewy and thick, and when that sweet cream met the nuttiness of the almond, it made me so happy!

Chewy almond cream scooped up with a spoon

The cream almond is a little sweet, but not overly so (at least by my standard haha)

When you drink it together with the coffee below, a slight bitterness comes up that balances so well with the nuttiness, so I quickly recommended it to my partner haha

Café latte placed alongside the cream almond

Café latte

I also tried the café latte, and the smoothness of the latte was impressive — the coffee blended in so naturally that it felt like it wasn't milk mixed with coffee, but like they were originally one thing?! Hahaha

And as for the desserts we ate together, they were so good too, honestly ㅋ

Egg financier on a plate

Egg financier

The egg financier was light yet soft, so one bite followed by a sip of coffee just melted away in my mouth haha

A large walnut pecan chocolate cookie
Cross-section of the cookie packed with walnuts and pecans
A forkful of the walnut pecan chocolate cookie

The walnut pecan chocolate cookie is big in size, and it's packed generously with walnuts and pecans inside, so wherever you dig in with your fork it's all walnut and pecan haha

Inside of the warmed cookie with melted chocolate

And it comes slightly warmed, so the chocolate inside melts thick and gooey — you can taste sweetness as chocolatey as it looks in the photo below.

I enjoyed everything so much! 👍

For anyone looking for a Daeheung Station café, a Gongdeok coffee spot, or a Gyeongui Line Forest Park café, I recommend Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch! ^^
