Konkuk Univ. bakery for a solo decaf croissant set: Stack Bakery

I had errands near Konkuk University Station, so I stopped by Stack Bakery for coffee and some good pastries.

I usually love croissants and pastries. I'd heard they use good ingredients and make everything in-house, so I'd been curious about this place, and the chance finally came up to visit.

Where Stack Bakery is and when it opens

Stack Bakery is located at 5 Ttukseom-ro 31-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, not far from Konkuk University Station. It's open daily from 8:00 to 21:00, closed every Wednesday.

The exterior was clean and had that classic bakery café feel. There's a big croissant model hanging at the entrance, which basically screams "this is a croissant spot"!

Outdoor tables downstairs, window seats upstairs

Stack Bakery is split between the 1st and 2nd floors. The 1st floor has outdoor tables outside, and the inside is where they bake and display the pastries, while the 2nd floor has full windows, making it a relaxed spot to sit and spend some time.

Here's the 2nd floor. It looked great for a solo coffee, and just as good for chatting with a friend.

I'm not a fan of crowded, noisy places, so the 2nd floor at Stack Bakery was perfect for enjoying some quiet time alone.

What's on the menu at Stack Bakery

Stack Bakery sells a range of bakery items centered on croissants and French pastries. There's plenty of variety — plain croissant, kaya croissant, gourmet butter croissant, kouign-amann, pain au chocolat, and more.

Just looking at it made everything seem so delicious!

They also serve coffee, so it's a good spot to enjoy pastries and coffee together.

Pastries baked in-house every day

Stack Bakery is a bakery café that mixes and bakes everything on-site. Apparently they start from dough-making to baking every day from early morning.

Another highlight: they use beans blended by a roaster with 15 years of experience, pairing coffee well with the pastries. If you like croissants or French pastries, it's fun just browsing the variety here.

What I ordered and what it cost

Everything on display looked so good that I agonized over what to pick, and ended up going with the blueberry ricotta croissant set (₩12,000) plus iced decaf americano (+₩500).

Since I wanted to try more, I also ordered plain kouign-amann (₩4,500), pain au chocolat (₩5,200), and apple cinnamon pastry (₩5,200).

How the croissant and pastries tasted

Blueberry ricotta croissant — soft ricotta and tangy blueberry sandwiched in a crisp croissant! It was sweet with a light cheesy richness added, tastier than I expected. The blueberry-ricotta combo really worked.

Plain kouign-amann — crisp outside with visible layers inside, great texture. Not super sweet at all! It leaned into the nutty richness of butter with a subtle sweetness, a solid classic flavor.

Pain au chocolat — the layered pastry was alive and crisp, with the chocolate inside subtly sweet. I liked the balance of the plain pastry with the chocolate more than an intense sweetness.

Apple cinnamon pastry — crisp pastry with sweet apple and a subtle cinnamon scent, really fragrant. The tangy-sweet apple flavor made it pair especially well with coffee.

Iced decaf americano — a nice balance of acidity and nuttiness that went well with the pastries. Good beans really do make a difference.

It's fun browsing the in-house croissants and various pastries, and the 2nd floor has a relaxed vibe that's great for taking a short break.
