Gwangjin bakery with Seoul's #1 croissant and pain au chocolat: Stack
In short
Stack Bakery is a French-style pastry bakery café in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin, Seoul, 609m from Exit 5 of Konkuk University Station. At Stack Bakery the order was four pastries — croissant, sausage pastry, pain au chocolat and hazelnut kouign-amann — eaten upstairs on the second floor with a café latte and a coconut latte. The croissant arrived warmed and its butter flavor was good enough to call a lifetime-best croissant, so Stack Bakery is saved for a repeat visit.

Stack Bakery — the place a French model-influencer named the #1 croissant in Seoul — is a Gwangjin bakery that really lives up to the hype. I've been to so many bakeries running this blog.

Where is Stack Bakery, and its hours and parking
Stack Bakery is 609m from Exit 5 of Konkuk University Station, open 08:00-21:00, closed every Wednesday. If you're driving, the Jayang-dong Traditional Market public parking lot is a good option and an easy walk from there (about 5 minutes).

It's close to the Sinyang Elementary School intersection in Jayang-dong and walkable from Exit 5 of Konkuk University Station. A huge croissant model catches your eye at the entrance to a residential alley, and the two-story building squeezed into a narrow gap was really striking.

Why a French influencer called it Seoul's #1 croissant
🥐🥐🥐 Apparently a French model and professional influencer visited a bunch of croissant spots in Seoul and picked Stack Bakery as the number one. 🥇🥇🥇
How good can bread really be, I thought — honestly I went in without huge expectations. But it was seriously amazing...
Inside the narrow, elongated building was a narrow, elongated haha space that felt special. They said they make and bake everything themselves from dough onward, every dawn, packed full of buttery flavor.

They mentioned a lot of freshly baked bread comes out around 11am, so it's worth keeping in mind when you visit.

Number one, the croissant 👍 In a bit, you'll meet a lifetime-best croissant that gives you a huge wave of emotion.

What pastries Stack Bakery sells
Overall, Stack Bakery had a lot of pastry-based breads. They specialize in French-style pastries, apparently. Pain au chocolat, hazelnut kouign-amann, kaya croissant, sausage pastry, olive cheese, tomato cheese pastry, Nutella and peanut pastry.

Almond pain suisse, chocolate flan. Even just looking at them, the crisp, layered breads catch your eye.

The croissant, of course, but the crack salt bread also looked visibly crunchy haha.

After much deliberation, I gathered a croissant, sausage pastry, pain au chocolat, and hazelnut kouign-amann. There were so many glowing blog reviews that I wanted to try a bit of everything.

I spotted a celebrity signature from Honey J, and proof-shots from famous influencers! It even appeared during Super Junior's 19th anniversary live broadcast — Stack Bakery is a pretty well-known and well-regarded Konkuk University-area bakery.

Coffee and sandwich menu at Stack Bakery
Stack Bakery's coffee is brewed from beans blended in-house by a roaster with 15 years of experience, aimed at pairing best with the pastries. Espresso, americano, coconut latte, sweetened condensed milk latte, ades, and a variety of teas were all available at reasonable prices! Drinks are ₩1,000 off for takeout, which felt like a great deal.
There are also hearty brunch-style sandwiches like the sandwich croissant, blueberry croissant, strawberry ricotta croissant, and egg potato croissant, along with good-value sets that come with a drink.

First floor, second floor and terrace seating
The interior is full of Stack Bakery's own sensibility down to every corner, warming up the whole space. There are breezy seats on the second floor overlooking outside, and tables for sitting face-to-face and chatting quietly. It was a clean, tasteful space.
There's also a terrace seating area right at the first-floor entrance that's great for this season, and it was popular! The sun wasn't too strong and the breeze felt nice, so I considered eating outside but ended up heading up to the second floor.
How the café latte and coconut latte taste
The staff-pick coconut latte and the best-selling café latte arrived beautifully plated alongside the assorted pastries I'd picked. The glass and mug with the Stack logo printed on them looked classy.

The café latte wasn't your everyday café latte. It had a rich, clean flavor with real depth of coffee.

It cuts right through the slight oiliness of the croissant and pastries — a café latte fully loaded with Stack Bakery's own coffee philosophy. It was genuinely delicious, the kind of thing that makes the phrase 'coffee with class' feel accurate.

And the coconut latte — the aroma was really subtle and nutty. There was sweetness from the coconut, but it wasn't just sweet; it was clean with real depth. Wow... this coffee is insane. Underneath, tiny bits of crunchy coconut were a nice touch too. Now that it's a bit cooler out, I'd recommend the warm coconut latte over iced.

Just looking at them, the breads have a crisp texture and a glossy shine.

Tasting the croissant, kouign-amann and pain au chocolat
Stack Bakery's croissant, said to be Seoul's best, is genuinely a lifetime-must-try croissant. Being served warm is also key to tasting it at its best — the layered pastry was incredibly crisp, while the inside was moist and chewy. The soft tear of each layer was so moist and delicious. The buttery flavor was seriously amazing! I've never been this moved by a croissant before — popular things are popular for a reason!
The hazelnut kouign-amann was crisp too! Not just crumbly — the moistness and nutty flavor were genuinely excellent. It's been a while since one bite of bread surprised me like that,

The pain au chocolat — you too? Are you moved as well? The chocolate's sweetness was truly the best of the best! The layered pastry tore apart beautifully, moist all the way through! I wondered if four breads was too many when I picked them, but I devoured them all with the coffee and walked out clapping like a seal.
Relaxed vibe, great taste and atmosphere, and above all a lifetime-best croissant and pastries await here. Two thumbs up — a repeat visit is saved!
