Shrimp pilaf and three shared dishes at Oseuseu, a Pocheon restaurant
In short
Oseuseu is a Western-style restaurant in an alley off Wangbang-ro 118beon-gil in Pocheon, Gyeonggi. A family of three, including a husband just back from a business trip, came for weekend lunch and ordered one of each — house steak, aged kimchi pasta with seasoned meat crumbs, and shrimp pilaf — to share. All three dishes satisfied, and first-timers should start with the aged kimchi pasta, where grilled aged kimchi is eaten together with the noodles.

A rare weekend all together with my husband, freshly back from a business trip, and our kid! We wanted something delicious and a relaxed meal in a nice atmosphere, so we headed to Oseuseu (오스스, OSS) in Pocheon.
What we ordered that day was
- House steak
- Aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs
- Shrimp pilaf
Three dishes total! Bottom line first: all three were delicious, and our family walked out saying "let's come back here!" haha.

Where is Oseuseu? Tucked inside a Pocheon alley
Oseuseu sits at 33 Wangbang-ro 118beon-gil, Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, 1st floor — not on the main road but down an alley. When we first got near the area, honestly I thought, "there's a restaurant around here?" haha.
But walking a bit further into the alley, the pretty OSS sign came into view and it was like, "oh! here it is!" The front of the building wasn't just a pass-through space either — it was decorated nicely with plants, lighting, and a wood deck. There was even a spot to sit while waiting, so it seemed fine to visit even during busy hours.

What Oseuseu looks like inside: open kitchen and calm interior
The moment we stepped inside Oseuseu, my first thought was "this place has a great vibe!"

Overall it had wood-toned furniture mixed with vintage props and lighting, giving it a warm, comfortable feel. Not an overly decorated, flashy space — more like somewhere you enjoy looking at each little prop one by one.

There were old-looking lamps, frames, and wine bottles scattered around, which made it nice for photos too.

And personally I loved that the kitchen area was somewhat open!

You could see the staff preparing food, and the whole place felt lively.
How busy is Oseuseu at lunchtime?
When we arrived at Oseuseu, it was still before noon, so at first there were only about two tables of guests. But as we were eating, I noticed one group, then another, kept coming in…

By the time we finished and left, the place was almost completely full. Totally different atmosphere from when we first walked in, haha.

There were families with kids, couples, and groups of friends, so it didn't feel like a spot for one particular age group only. It works as a Pocheon date spot, and it was just as comfortable for a family meal with our kid like ours.
Seeing this steady stream of guests, I figured it must already be pretty well-known in the area.
Oseuseu's menu: pasta, steak, pilaf, risotto and salad

Oseuseu isn't just a pasta place — the menu also includes steak, pilaf, risotto, salad, and more, giving you quite a few options.

For a group like ours, ordering one steak plus one pasta and one pilaf to share was a great setup. Our choices that day really paid off.
House steak with mashed potato and grilled vegetables

First, the house steak, which looked great from the start! It came with mashed potato and grilled vegetables on the side, plus sauce, wasabi, and whole grain mustard.

You can tell just by cutting into it how juicy the inside looked, right?

The steak really needed no words, haha. The meat itself was tender and delicious, and instead of just dipping it in sauce, adding a little wasabi or the pop of whole grain mustard seeds changed the flavor each time.

Personally, the grilled vegetable garnish was also tasty. Alternating between the steak and the vegetables made for a really good combination.
Oseuseu's signature: aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs
And the dish that stuck with me the most that day!

This was the aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs. From the moment I saw it on the menu, I was most curious — aged kimchi (mukeunji, fermented cabbage kimchi) and pasta, what would that even taste like? One bite in, I immediately thought, "ah, there's a reason this is the signature dish!"

The generously sized grilled kimchi on the side was, personally, really delicious. It had that familiar savory taste Koreans would love — kind of like the well-cooked kimchi you get in a kimchi pancake. The umami of the grilled aged kimchi meeting the pasta with meat crumbs was an oddly perfect match.

The pasta is delicious on its own, but be sure to cut up the kimchi and eat noodles + meat crumbs + kimchi all together. That's when it's absolutely at its best!
It has a completely different charm from the cream or tomato pastas you usually eat, so if you're looking for a great pasta spot in Pocheon, I'd really recommend trying this one.
Shrimp pilaf: the surprise of the meal

Honestly, I didn't expect much when ordering this, but the shrimp pilaf surprised me by being unexpectedly delicious. It came topped with plump shrimp, and the rice was evenly packed with ingredients, with overall seasoning that wasn't overpowering.

In particular, the sauce drizzled on top was mild and slightly sweet, which paired really well with the shrimp and fried rice. It's also a fine dish to share with kids, so if you're visiting as a family, it's worth ordering one to share.
Why ordering all three dishes to share worked

Steak, pasta, and pilaf all laid out on the table at once — pretty hearty, right? Haha. The three dishes had completely different flavors, so we kept alternating between them. A bite of meat, then a bite of the kimchi pasta, then a spoonful of shrimp pilaf in between! All three of us ate really well.
Is Oseuseu worth a return trip for Western food in Pocheon?

We actually first found out about this place through a sponsored campaign, but after eating there, I thought I'd want to come back on my own next time. Best of all, it wasn't just one dish that was good — all three were satisfying.
If it's your first visit to Oseuseu, I'd especially recommend the aged kimchi pasta with meat crumbs. Combining the familiar aged kimchi with pasta felt refreshingly different, yet still very familiar to a Korean palate.
The atmosphere is pretty too, comfortable for a family meal with kids, and also nice for a date — so if you're looking for Western food in Pocheon, a Pocheon restaurant, or a Pocheon date spot, I'd recommend giving this a try. There's plenty to see around Pocheon too, so if you get hungry while out exploring, drop by for a meal!
Our family is planning to visit again next time to try the other pastas and risottos we missed this time. ♡
