Wondering what to eat for lunch today, I suddenly craved sushi after a while, so I went to 'Mikado Sushi'!

Is there a wait at Mikado Sushi on a weekday lunch? Bar table seating

We visited Mikado Sushi Seosan during weekday lunch hours and got in right away with no wait. The seating is split between the bar table and group tables, and we were guided to the bar table!

Mikado Sushi is a chain I've visited many times, but this was my first visit to the Seosan branch 🍀

How ordering works at Mikado Sushi Seosan: write it on a Post-it note

The ordering method at Mikado Sushi Seosan is Post-it notes. Once you sit down, staff explain how to order sushi — you write it on a Post-it and hand it to the staff member in front of you!

Writing notes while eating was a tiny bit of a hassle, but for extreme introverts this might actually be the perfect ordering method 🤭 The broth is in a tumbler, and soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger come on individual small plates you help yourself to.

First plates: sea bream sushi and beef yukhoe sushi

From here on, sushi-eating mode starts 🥢 I began with sea bream sushi, and my husband started with beef yukhoe (raw beef tartare) sushi! You know the first bite is always the best, right? The sea bream flesh was chewy and fresh — so good!

My husband seemed to really like the beef yukhoe sushi that day — he ordered it about three times 🤭

Daemaki (large seaweed roll) good enough to order twice

We ordered daemaki (large seaweed roll) separately 🍽️ It's a must whenever I go to a sushi place 🤭 The flying fish roe pops in your mouth, the crispy seaweed is packed full, and it's just so satisfying to bite into. We ended up adding one more order midway!

Eating sushi while watching the sushi go by on the belt 🌀 Mikado Sushi Seosan is a treat for both the eyes and the mouth! Beyond the variety of sushi, they even have fruit and desserts fully stocked, which is a nice bonus.

Flame-grilled beef sushi, tuna, salmon and eel at Mikado Sushi

Eating without a break, we ended up with a lot of duplicate plates and quite a few we didn't manage to photograph 🤣 When we got tired of fish sushi, we switched to flame-grilled beef sushi, and made sure to order plenty of tuna too. Salmon sushi is a given, right?

From sushi topped with egg and shrimp 🍣 to eel sushi, Mikado Sushi has such a wide variety!

Spicy udon and fried shrimp on the side

After eating sushi for a while, we wanted something hot and soupy, so we ordered udon (spicy option ✔️) and fried shrimp! You really have to try this one. The broth is piping hot and spicy in a satisfying way 👍🏻 If you can't handle spicy food, just order the regular flavor!

What 28 plates cost two people at Mikado Sushi: 58,800 won

Mikado Sushi is ₩2,100 per plate! 🍽️ 28 plates between the two of us ㅠ Pretty restrained, right? My husband is trying to lose weight these days, so we held back quite a bit 🤣 🍀₩58,800, meal complete🍀
