I was out in Gyeongju Bomun and craving Korean food, so I looked up good restaurants nearby. Since I'd come all the way to Gyeongju, I wanted something hearty and filling — and while searching, one menu item caught my eye instantly. It was 'Ppyeoberest,' the beef rib hot pot at Hyoeunok, famous as a Gyeongju Bomun restaurant.

The second I saw the photo — beef ribs piled up like a mountain over the pot — I thought, "I have to try this place!" and went straight there.
Where is Hyoeunok Gyeongju Branch, and is there parking?
Hyoeunok, a well-known restaurant in Gyeongju Bomun, is located at 12-6 Bukgun 3-gil, Gyeongju.

Hyoeunok sits along the restaurant row in Bomun. The first thing I liked when I arrived was the parking lot — it was really spacious, making it easy to visit by car.

The building's exterior had that classic Korean restaurant vibe.
Inside Hyoeunok: seating and atmosphere

The interior had a traditional design, which really set the mood for a Korean meal during a Gyeongju trip.

There was plenty of indoor seating too, so it looked like a good spot for a family meal or a group gathering.
Hyoeunok menu and the Ppyeoberest hot pot price

Hyoeunok, a Gyeongju Bomun restaurant, had all kinds of delicious-looking dishes on the menu!

Out of everything, what stole my heart was the Ppyeoberest beef bone hot pot. My friend and I ordered it without a second thought.
The Ppyeoberest mountain of beef bone hot pot is a 2–4 person menu priced at ₩65,900. We could choose the spice level when ordering, and we went with regular.

What the Ppyeoberest mountain beef bone hot pot looks like in person
A little while later, the Ppyeoberest arrived! Even though I'd already seen the photos, seeing it in person was even more impressive.

The beef bones really are piled up like a mountain in the middle of the pot — I immediately understood why it's called Ppyeoberest ('bone Everest').

Underneath the ribs, there was a generous layer of vegetables like mung bean sprouts and minari (water dropwort), and once it started boiling, the whole look of the pot changed again.

How the regular-spice broth and beef tasted at Hyoeunok
With Ppyeoberest, the meat comes out almost fully cooked already, so we didn't have to wait long. Once the broth started boiling, we ate the vegetables first, then moved on to the warmed-through meat. The regular spice level wasn't super hot — more like a slight kick at the end of the broth. I actually liked having that bit of heat. The rich flavor from the meat and bones combined with the slightly spicy broth made it a taste I kept going back for!

The portion of meat was really generous. At first I wondered how much actual meat there'd be with so many bones, but once we cut into it, there was quite a bit of meat attached, and it was tender and easy to eat.

It wasn't tough or dry at all — I thought it would be a good place to bring parents or older family members too.

The eating order: beef ribs, shabu-shabu, kalguksu, then porridge
After finishing the beef ribs and vegetables, you can add the thin sliced beef that comes with the set into the broth and eat it shabu-shabu style. Lightly cooked in the hot broth, it had a completely different feel from the ribs we'd just eaten — and I loved it.

And it would be a shame to stop there. We added kalguksu noodles and boiled those in the broth too. We were already getting full, but it wasn't over yet! Finally, we finished with porridge in the remaining broth!

Beef ribs → vegetables → shabu-shabu → kalguksu → porridge. After going through this whole order, I thought I was going to burst. This portion seems like it would be enough for about three people, but my friend and I both eat a lot, so the two of us properly polished it off.

The kimchi that came as a side dish was tasty too, and the cool, refreshing kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) was great to eat alongside the meal throughout.
Final verdict on Hyoeunok, a Korean restaurant in Gyeongju Bomun
This is a great Gyeongju Bomun restaurant to remember when you're craving Korean food. Most of all, Ppyeoberest isn't just flashy visuals — the meat portion was genuinely generous and tender, and being able to enjoy vegetables, shabu-shabu, noodles, and porridge all in one meal made it perfect for when you want a really filling dinner. With the spacious parking lot and roomy dining room, it also seems like a good option if you're looking for a place to eat during a family trip or want to bring your parents to a Korean restaurant in Gyeongju Bomun.
Next time I'm in Gyeongju Bomun and craving something warm and hearty, this is a place I'd want to come back to! The Ppyeoberest I'd been curious about from photos turned out to have amazing real-life visuals and a portion big enough to leave us stuffed and properly recharged.
