I was running errands in Buldang-dong, Cheonan and suddenly craved a crispy pork cutlet, so I stopped by Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang, a well-known pork cutlet restaurant in the area. As the name suggests, Jinsim Wang Donkatsu is famous for its oversized pork cutlets, but it's also popular for its noodle dishes — kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), udon, jjolmyeon (chewy spicy noodles), naengmyeon (cold noodles), and cold soba.

What is the restaurant like at noon on a Sunday?

We visited around noon on a Sunday, and as expected for such a popular spot, there were already plenty of customers, with dine-in and delivery orders coming in nonstop.

The interior was even more spacious and pleasant than it looked from outside, with generous spacing between tables for a comfortable meal. There were plenty of high chairs too, so families with young kids should have no trouble here.

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang is a pork cutlet specialist, but beyond the classic wang donkatsu (giant pork cutlet), cheese katsu, kimchi nabe katsu, curry donkatsu, sweet potato cheese katsu, and fish cutlet, they also serve noodle dishes that pair perfectly with cutlet — kalguksu, udon, jjolmyeon, naengmyeon, cold soba — plus sides like tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and chicken tenders. After ordering, you can use the self-serve bar, so I read the instructions on the table carefully and went to check it out.

—warm udon broth and cream soup, the perfect companion to a cutlet, were also self-serve and easy to grab 🫶

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu, ₩10,900. As soon as it arrived, the sheer size of the giant pork cutlet caught my eye!

Just looking at it, the Jinsim Wang Donkatsu's coating was fried to a beautiful golden brown, which made it look even more delicious 🤤

It came with kewpie-mayo cabbage salad, cucumber and green chili, and rice, and you can choose whether the sauce goes on top or on the side — I went with sauce on the side. Instead of the popular clean-and-spicy pork cutlet, you can add spicy sauce for 1,000 won, and I did — this really was worth it, you will not regret adding it!!

Cutting into the giant cutlet, I found a thick cut of grade-1 Korean pork loin inside the crispy coating — no gamey taste, mild and tender, with a nice chew. Paired with the restaurant's special sauce, the savory flavor was complete ✨

One thing to try here! A way of eating cutlet that's unique to Jinsim Wang Donkatsu — the cutlet lettuce wrap! Pork cutlet in lettuce? An odd combination, I thought, but once I tried it, the fresh lettuce, crispy cutlet, and crunchy chili together cut the richness dramatically — it was a real treat 😋

With a name like cheese waterfall, I had high expectations, and sure enough, the moment I cut into it, cheese stretched and poured out 🫶 As expected, the crisply fried cutlet was packed with nutty, soft cheese, and adding rich curry sauce on top made it taste completely different from a regular cutlet.

The curry wasn't too strong or spicy, so it seemed like something kids could enjoy too, and it went really well with the cheese.

Is Jinsim Wang Donkatsu worth a visit?

Jinsim Wang Donkatsu Cheonan Buldang is worth a visit at least once if you love big, hearty pork cutlets. The crispy coating paired well with the tender loin, and adding spicy sauce here and there cut through the richness, so I could enjoy it deliciously right to the last bite.

With a wide range of menu items beyond cutlet — kalguksu, udon, jjolmyeon, naengmyeon — it's also a great choice to visit with people who have different tastes.
