Busan yakiniku near Minrak Waterside Park: egg yolk rice at Bisyoku

In short

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is a Japanese-style yakiniku restaurant near Minrak Waterside Park in Suyeong-gu, Busan. On this return visit the Yasashi Set (200g premium sirloin, 300g pork belly and grilled vegetables, 79,000 won) came with three bowls of egg yolk rice and a beer, and the pickled side dishes were already refilled before the meat hit the grill. The meat looked exactly as good as on the first visit, making Bisyoku the grill house that comes to mind whenever Gwangalli does.

A Gwangalli favorite in Busan, Bisyoku — my revisit report after eating the Yasashi Set

Main image of the revisit to Bisyoku Gwangan Branch's Yasashi Set

I was so impressed by the vibe the first time I visited Bisyoku in Gwangalli that I kept thinking about it and went back 🤍 The autumn weather was nice and cool, and with outdoor seating plus all the windows open inside, the open-air feeling was really great ~~ Glad I made it before the deep-freeze cold sets in >.<

Where is Bisyoku Gwangan Branch, and where do you park?

Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is located at 9-5 Gwanganhaebyeon-ro 344beon-gil, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's near Minrak Waterside Park, so it's a perfect stop if you're taking a stroll along Gwangalli Beach! There are also a lot of nice dessert cafés nearby, so it works well for a second round of dessert too ~

And if you're driving, there are convenient public parking lots nearby! I recommend the Minrak Waterside Park public lot or the Suyeong Children's Park public lot. Both were within a 3–5 minute walk ~

Inside Bisyoku: outdoor tables and counter seats

The interior of Bisyoku Gwangan Branch is split across two floors and is a fairly large space, with both counter seats and table seats inside. I felt this on my first visit too, but the distinctly Japanese, mood-heavy wooden interior really makes it feel like you've stepped into an actual local yakiniku joint ~~!

I didn't notice this last time, but this visit I spotted a fully open outdoor seating area?! With the cooler weather these days, outdoor seating seemed great too. They said private rental is also possible ~ Since it was just the two of us and the counter seats had such good atmosphere, we sat at the counter!

What comes in the 79,000-won Yasashi Set

Set menu board at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch

My pick again this time was the Yasashi Set! The portion of meat was just right for two people, and it was delicious the last time I had it too ~~ It comes with 200g premium sirloin, 300g pork belly, and a plate of grilled vegetables — 500g of meat total, which is the perfect amount for two adults to eat well and feel satisfied without excess 👍🏻 In terms of value and composition, the set menu is a much better deal than ordering à la carte, so I always recommend going with the set!!

Side dishes refilled before the meat even hit the grill

Table spread of pickled side dishes served with yakiniku
Plate of Bisyoku side dishes including radish salad and pickled green onion

Once you order, they set out the basic side dishes ~~ This Gwangalli favorite, Bisyoku — the side dish lineup here is seriously insane !!! It pairs with yakiniku on a whole other level ... 🤤 There's a variety of pickled dishes, and in particular the spicy radish salad, pickled green onion, and pickled peppers cut through the greasy richness of the meat perfectly!

Counter table with refilled pickled side dishes

The side dishes were so good again this time that we refilled them before we'd even finished grilling all the meat haha. We asked for refills on several of the side dishes, and the staff were always so kind about it, which made me happy >.<

Is the meat quality at Bisyoku still the same on a second visit?

And then, the Yasashi Set meat made its appearance ... ✨

Looking at it again, isn't the marbling and meat quality just so good? Sometimes when you revisit a place, the quality ends up disappointing compared to your first visit — but at Bisyoku in Gwangalli, the meat looked exactly as good as it did the first time, still really delicious!!

For the first round, the staff explained each item and grilled it for us with real care ~ As always, I loved that they kindly told us exactly how to eat it for the best flavor, right down to which side dishes to pair it with

The very first bite — the nuttiness and tenderness of the premium sirloin just completely melted in my mouth ... 🥹

And of course, beer is a must with this !!!! I told myself I wouldn't drink, but I couldn't resist the beer again this time ~

House-made tarae soy sauce with egg yolk

Bisyoku's signature tare soy sauce with raw egg yolk

In particular, Bisyoku Gwangan's signature house-made tarae (soy dipping) sauce, popped with an egg yolk, dunking the meat straight into the yolk — that combination is a truly no-questions-asked legend ....

Dipping meat into the egg yolk sauce

The nutty richness of the yolk with the savory-salty tarae sauce is such a great harmony. Being the Gwangalli favorite it is, my boyfriend and I both nodded at each other the second we took a bite ㅋㅋㅋㅋ a familiar taste hits differently ~~~~

After demolishing the sirloin, straight into pork belly time ~! The biggest advantage of yakiniku is that it grills up quickly on the grill so the flow of eating never stops ~~

Thin slices of pork belly grilling

Wrapping a thin slice of pork belly in pickled green onion for one bite — you know that's an unquestionable winning combo, right? Add the spicy radish salad on top and it's honestly a rice thief ...!!!!!

Why we ended up ordering three bowls of egg yolk rice

Last time I got the plain rice, telling myself I was dieting, but this time I just gave up on that and ordered the egg yolk rice ㅋ

It's genuinely delicious even eaten on its own. Kind of has that soy sauce egg rice vibe ~~

Mixed egg yolk rice with a piece of meat

In the end we ordered one more bowl of egg yolk rice and split it between the two of us again. That's 1.5 bowls each ... ^^ diet, who cares ~~

Closing shot of the meal at Bisyoku Gwangan Branch

Bisyoku, a Gwangalli favorite in Busan! Last time I recommended it as a great date spot, but leaving the atmosphere aside, from the meat quality to the side dishes it's just so delicious that it's become the place that comes to mind when I think of good food in Gwangalli, Busan. If you love yakiniku, I definitely recommend a visit to Bisyoku in Gwangalli haha.
