Samsong Station Korean restaurant: stone-pot haejangguk vs delivery
In short
Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Korean restaurant near Starfield Goyang and Samsong Station serving haejangguk (hangover soup) in a stone pot. The writer had often ordered the same soup for delivery, but the heat of the stone pot in the restaurant was clearly different, and tasting it before and after stirring in the dadaegi (spicy seasoning paste) and adding minced garlic left not a drop of broth behind. Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is the soup-and-rice place that won over someone who could never eat seonji (congealed ox blood).

Where is Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch, and when is it open?

I really love guk-bap (soup with rice) 🤤 and I used to only eat pork bone soup. But! Ever since I discovered this place last year, whenever I'm craving guk-bap, Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is always where I go. If you're looking for a solid meal near Goyang Starfield or Samsong Station, I confidently recommend this spot. It's close to public transit around Samsong Station, and it's the perfect place to stop by before or after shopping.
Delivery vs. dine-in: how different is the stone-pot haejangguk?
Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is just as generous when ordered for delivery, but the warmth of the stone pot is definitely different in person. This place is so famous that I've eaten there in person plenty of times, and when I'm really craving it, I've also had it delivered at home! Even delivered, it's just as hearty and delicious as eating in the restaurant, so it's a place I turn to often.
But you know guk-bap only tastes right when it's bubbling hot in a stone pot, right!? The heat and vividness of holding the actual stone pot straight from the kitchen just can't be matched by delivery :))

Inside the restaurant: seating, mood and how long you wait
The interior looks like this. The restaurant is clean and tables turn over quickly, so even if there's a wait, the line moves fast, and the air conditioning is strong so you won't be sweating even while eating hot soup.

Menu prices and what comes free with your soup
The menu at Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch used to have just three items — haejangguk, tripe soup, and dombe pork — but now there's a new cutlassfish stew too! I always order the haejangguk when I go. There are also set menus, which I haven't tried yet, so I'll give one a shot next time I visit.
Rice can be refilled once per person for free, and broth refills are also available. (Though the portions are so generous I've never actually needed to ask for more.)

Every table comes standard with gochujang, ssamjang, diced radish kimchi, and minced garlic.

How to eat it: before and after stirring in the dadaegi
The haejangguk at Jeju Eunhui-ne comes with the chili paste (dadaegi) sitting on top of the broth, so I recommend tasting it before mixing. The food comes out pretty fast. Can you see the insane portion size... This time I mixed it all together, but I've found it's also delicious without mixing in the chili paste.

Once mixed, it looks like this. It looks spicy but it's really not that spicy. I like adding minced garlic — I'm not sure if that's how it's usually eaten, but adding it makes it way more delicious ✌️

The seonji that converted someone who never ate ox blood
Doesn't the portion look massive?! I actually started eating beef blood (seonji) after trying it here 😚🥳😚. It's loaded with pork, beef blood, bean sprouts, glass noodles, dried napa greens, and green onion, and there isn't a hint of pork funk — it's really delicious.
Given it's haejangguk, it's perfect for curing a hangover, but with all that generous meat and portioning, it also holds up great as a hearty dinner. If you haven't been yet, make sure to stop by this weekend for a warm bowl of guk-bap!!! It's addictive enough that you'll polish off every last drop of broth to the very last spoonful ✨

A lot of celebrities have visited too, apparently~ A Samsong restaurant approved by celebrities! I recommend Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk 🥰
