In short

Gogi 9 Dan Chimsan Direct Branch is a beef barbecue restaurant in Chimsan-dong, Buk-gu, Daegu, with parking, private rooms, group seating, and a playroom. We visited for weekday lunch, ordered half portions each of fresh galbi and hanging tender, plus the ₩18,000 9 Dan Set; the spread was plentiful, though the set is limited to one per platter of grilled meat.

The two of us visited Gogi 9 Dan Chimsan Direct Branch (고기9단 침산직영점) for weekday lunch. We had half portions each of fresh galbi and hanging tender, along with the 9 Dan Set. Beyond the food, its spacious seating, playroom, and parking made it stand out as a place for family meals or group gatherings.

Where is it, and was parking convenient?

The restaurant is at 197 Chimsannam-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu. We went up the stairs on the left side of the building to the second-floor entrance, and there was dedicated parking on the first floor.

The parking lot could also be entered from behind the building. It was busy at weekday lunch, but there was still plenty of parking space, so it was convenient to visit by car.

How is it for meals with children or groups?

The interior was spacious, with many customers there for family meals or group gatherings. There were separate rooms, and most tables in the main hall either had partitions or ceiling blinds that could be lowered, making it comfortable to dine with your own group.

The playroom had coloring supplies and tables, with soft flooring. It also had arcade machines, a claw machine, a TV, and air conditioning. High chairs were available for dining with young children.

The restrooms were inside the restaurant, separated by gender, and clean. The original post says group reservations are available not only for 2–5 people, but also for groups of 6 or more and 16 or more.

What amenities were at the entrance and lobby?

When we entered through the second-floor entrance, the free drink corner was the first thing we saw. There was maesil-cha (Korean plum drink), cups of ice for iced coffee, and a coffee machine.

The coffee corner also served Americano, and certificates and plaques were displayed to one side.

Near the counter in the lobby, there was a partial open kitchen where we could watch meat being prepared.

What is on the menu, and what are the ordering conditions?

Fresh galbi, seokcheong galbi, flower galbi, emperor galbi, and hanging tender appeared to be the main options. Fresh pork belly and fresh pork neck were also available.

Lunch specials included sets pairing beef with sotbap (pot-cooked rice) or naengmyeon (cold noodles), Korean beef minari shabu-kalguksu, stew set meals, yukhoe bibimbap, and yukjeon. We ordered by tablet and could request additional side dishes. The tablet also listed services for birthday celebrants, pregnant women, and military personnel.

At the time of our visit, there was also an event offering freshly fried ppongtwigi (puffed rice snack) for writing a receipt review.

What were the side dishes with the meat like?

After we ordered, they first set up a charcoal grill. The heat was strong, so the meat cooked quickly.

The side dishes were varied, including japchae, seasoned raw crab, green onion kimchi, salad, dongchimi, seaweed, and pickled onions. There was plenty for the two of us.

The japchae came warm, and I liked its lightly sweet seasoning. The seasoned raw crab was spicy and pleasantly tender. We kept reaching for the side dishes while grilling the meat.

Can you order half portions of fresh galbi and hanging tender?

For the first beef order, we could order from one platter, including two cuts combined as half portions. We ordered a half portion of fresh galbi and a half portion of hanging tender.

We also ordered the 9 Dan Set with the meat. Only one set could be ordered per platter of grilled meat, and it was prepared soon after the meat and side dishes arrived.

What comes in the ₩18,000 9 Dan Set?

The 9 Dan Set cost ₩18,000. It included pork kimchi stew, jjolmyeon (chewy spicy noodles), Korean beef yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), sushi rice, and wasabi. There was an induction burner beside the grill, so we could simmer the kimchi stew while eating it with the meat.

The aged-kimchi stew had plenty of pork and was spicy with a clean heat that went well with the meat. The jjolmyeon was also spicy, and it felt more substantial than the japchae to me. With the yukhoe as well, the table felt very full.

How did we eat the fresh galbi and hanging tender, and how did they taste?

We put the fresh galbi on the grill first. The galbi had knife cuts, and once cooked, it had a meaty aroma with both tenderness and a satisfying chew.

We ate it dipped in salt or with green onion kimchi. We also placed grilled meat over the set's rice and wasabi and ate it like sushi; this was the combination I especially liked.

After the fresh galbi, we grilled the hanging tender. We ate the side dishes and set dishes along the way, too.

The hanging tender had rich juices and a good texture. Being able to try both cuts at once made us happy with our choice to order half portions of fresh galbi and hanging tender.

After the meat, set, and side dishes, the two of us were very full. We had maesil-cha before leaving. The food was generous in both quantity and variety, and the rooms and playroom made it memorable as a place for a family or larger group to eat together.
