Truffle mushroom open sandwich at a Hapjeong brunch café: Seowon Angil
In short
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a large two-floor brunch café in the alley by Exit 3 of Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. On a rainy afternoon at a window seat, the writer and a friend ordered ragù pasta (₩28,000), cucumber egg sour ranch (₩11,000) and truffle mushroom & balsamic (₩12,000), and the crisp sourdough baked in the café's own baking room carried all three plates. Asked for one Hapjeong brunch café recommendation, Seowon Angil Hapjeong is the top pick.

Last weekend I met up with my Gimpo friend in Seoul after way too long! She has a baby who's not even one yet, so meeting up outside has gotten harder and harder these days ㅠㅠ So we planned the date ahead of time, and my friend got a rare day of freedom!! I headed off to Hapjeong all excited haha 😄
It was a bit of a late lunch, so we went to a brunch café — and Seowon Angil Hapjeong totally satisfied us! The vibe, the food, the space — everything was perfect, a genuinely great find ✨

Where is Seowon Angil Hapjeong, and which entrance do you use?
Seowon Angil Hapjeong is a large café tucked in an alley just out of Exit 3 of Hapjeong Station. There are two entrances — we went in through the lower one, and the interior vibe hit us right from the doorway!

🐶 Pets are welcome too
What are the first and second floors like inside?
The interior has wood details and plants everywhere, so pretty 😍

It's not just an Instagram-pretty café — the space itself feels genuinely upscale and beautiful! ✨

It's a large café with two floors — this is the second floor!

Every table and chair is a different style, which somehow makes it look even cooler. It was nice being able to pick a seat that matched our mood!
Sourdough baked in Seowon Angil Hapjeong's second-floor baking room
There's a baking room tucked in the back where they make sourdough in-house, apparently — and I got even more excited hearing that 😋

Turns out they even sell the sourdough separately! I'll definitely have to grab a loaf next time~~

A window seat on a rainy day
You order downstairs on the 1st floor. Back down we went to order~~ We happened to visit on a rainy day, and eating by the window while listening to the rain made the whole vibe absolutely perfect.

We originally wanted coffee too, but we had another café reservation, so we just smelled the beans instead. The aroma was so good though, I definitely need to come back for the coffee next time 😉
What's on the menu at Seowon Angil Hapjeong?

You can smell the coffee beans here!

The menu is really extensive!! We were starving so we ordered three dishes haha

Let me walk you through each one 😘
🍝 Ragù pasta (₩28,000)

The ragù pasta at Seowon Angil Hapjeong is ₩28,000 and comes with two slices of sourdough on the side. The rich ragù sauce clings beautifully to the noodles, and those two slices of sourdough sit right beside it — this is the moment I fell in love with their sourdough 🥹
Dipping the sourdough into this pasta... honestly, words aren't needed for that combo 😋 And since it's rigatoni, the sauce soaks right into the tube shape, which made it even better!
🥗 Cucumber egg sour ranch (₩11,000)

The cucumber egg sour ranch is ₩11,000. It's a fresh, zesty cucumber-and-egg combo — I ordered it out of curiosity haha. The toppings sat so well on the crisp sourdough that my friend took one bite and immediately agreed it was delicious haha
🍄 Truffle mushroom & balsamic open sandwich (₩12,000)
The truffle mushroom & balsamic is an open sandwich for ₩12,000. A subtle truffle aroma rises up while the mushroom's flavor really comes through — a lovely open sandwich!
Both open toasts were delicious, but honestly, the crisp texture of that sourdough was genuinely addictive ❤️ All three dishes were satisfying, nothing to complain about at all 😊

The carrot slaw and salad that came alongside paired amazingly with the sourdough bread too!!😆

Is Seowon Angil Hapjeong worth recommending as a Hapjeong brunch café?
If anyone asks me for a Hapjeong brunch café recommendation, I'd probably put Seowon Angil Hapjeong at the top of the list! The pasta is delicious, the house-made sourdough is excellent, and the space is gorgeous — a perfect spot all around ✨
It was the ideal vibe for catching up leisurely with a friend after a long time apart, and eating by the window on a rainy day made it feel even more atmospheric and lovely 🌧️ I'll definitely be back to buy some sourdough on its own haha ❤️
