Five-floor Suwon café with open window seats: Jeong Ji-young Coffee

Hi! It was a school day off, so I came out to play in Haenggung-dong, Suwon (✿◡‿◡) Haenggung-dong is having such a moment lately haha, and I finally made it out too.

There are really, really many good-vibe cafés in Haenggung-dong, but among them I visited a huge café called Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch! I love coconut, and they have a signature 'Coconut' menu item ｡.:*♡ It's sold over 1.11 million cups and even has a patent on it..! Since I'm a coconut lover, I had to go try it haha. So let's get into the review ✩ Quick note: it's run as a no-kids zone for safety reasons!

Menu and prices: ordering happens in the basement

The ordering counter at Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung is on the basement level, so you order down there and carry your drink upstairs :)

Here's the drink menu! Coffee options include Americano ₩5,500, flat white ₩6,000, café latte ₩6,500, vanilla latte ₩6,800, coconut ₩7,000, Ethiopia Momora Natural G1 ₩7,500 (hand drip), Guatemala Antigua Pastoral ₩7,000 (hand drip), Colombia El Paraiso Double Anaerobic ₩8,500 (hand drip); non-coffee options include grapefruit ade ₩6,500, London fog milk tea ₩6,500, honey grapefruit black tea ₩6,500, and chamomile ₩6,500.

The signature menu is, of course, the coconut ✩°｡⋆ It has coffee in it, so it does contain caffeine. If you can't do caffeine, you can switch to decaf for +₩500 — that's what I did!

I read a bunch of reviews and a lot of them said the hand drip coffee is really good! I couldn't try it myself since I can't have caffeine, but if you're looking for hand drip coffee, this place should hit the spot ☕

There are desserts in the fridge case! When I visited there was Earl Grey fig cake ₩9,500, Basque cheesecake ₩8,000, and Matilda cake ₩9,500, plus fig sando ₩7,800, lamington ₩7,000, and American cookie ₩4,500.

They also sell rusks and cute little birthday candles ʚ♡ɞ The candles are so cute, perfect for using on anniversaries haha. But our real target was the coconut latte, so we ordered one coconut, one coconut in decaf — two total ₍ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ₎

The signature coconut: why two of the same drink never got old

We chose to drink in the café! They set the cups in a carrier so they'd be easy to hold (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧ We used the 2nd-floor seats, so the carrier made it easy to bring the drinks upstairs.

The coconut latte is made of cream + coconut latte! And the flavor..! If you really love coconut, you'll love this 🥥 The coconut flavor comes through strong while the latte itself is sweet. The cream on top is really bitter, which actually made it better! The latte is sweet and the cream is bitter, so eating them together works perfectly. If both were sweet I think it'd get tiring, but the bitter cream cuts through the sweetness and coconut flavor and resets your palate! That's why I could finish it without getting sick of it ☆

Usually the two of us order two different drinks, but this time we both got the same thing! And we still finished both cups completely..

Look how much dense cream is piled on top 🌴 By the way, the cream itself isn't coconut-flavored — it tastes like espresso!

If you like coconut, I highly recommend this..>< I think I'd order this again next time too. It's seriously smooth and delicious. The coconut flavor takes up way more of it than the coffee flavor!

Outside Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters: a whole building of café

The sign is visible from far away so it's easy to find! Since the entire building is the café, it's even easier to spot ✯ And there's a coconut sculpture waiting to greet you on the 1st floor haha.

It's seriously huge, right?! If you've ever visited Haenggung-dong even once, you've probably walked past this café haha. It already gives off that good-vibe café energy..

Floor by floor, from the basement to the 5th-floor rooftop

Another great thing about Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters is that, being a huge café, there are so many seats!

It goes from the basement level all the way up to a 5th-floor rooftop! Overall the atmosphere is calm and never loud, which I loved even more ✿ The 1st floor is the roasting room with no seats, so I'll go through B1, then 2F, 3F, 4F, 5F in order ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

This is the basement level! You order here, and they also sell goods ⭐

This is a spot between the stairs, and even the stair landing is decorated like this! It had such a vintage feel, which I loved..ෆ

2nd floor: the open-window seats

This is the 2nd floor! We used the 2nd floor too 🤍 The windows are wide open here, so the evening breeze drifts in gently! At first I thought it might be a bit warm without AC, but the weather's been cool lately so it was perfect. Such a great, atmospheric spot .｡.:*♡ Perfect for a date spot too!

3rd floor: the coffee academy

This is the 3rd floor! It's run as a coffee academy haha.

4th floor: big shared table and air conditioning

This is the 4th floor! It has a completely different charm from the 2nd floor ☆ For one, there's a huge shared table that looks great for groups! I don't think I've ever seen a group table this big before. And unlike the 2nd floor, they keep the AC running instead of the windows open, so it's a bit cooler here than on 2F 🤎

5th-floor rooftop: the busiest seats on an autumn day

And finally, the 5th-floor rooftop! The day I visited must have had great weather, because the rooftop was the busiest spot of all! It's autumn, so the weather and mood were perfect for enjoying a rooftop 🍂 Overall the café is huge and spacious, making it a great destination in Haenggung-dong! The vibe is calm and vintage, so I think it's perfect for a date course too 🤎

Jeong Ji-young Coffee Roasters Haenggung Main Branch — a delicious café on Haengridan-gil! It was my first time in Haenggung-dong and I was so happy to discover a café like this. I loved having so many seating options as a big café, but it's more than just 'big' — the signature coconut latte, having sold 1.11 million cups, made it an even more compelling place to visit ₍ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ₎

The atmosphere inside is calm and lovely, so I'd recommend it as a date spot, and if you love coconut, this is a café you absolutely must visit haha.
