Hanam Misa restaurant with free parking for family lunch: O Hyeongje

I went to O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch with my mom and kids for weekend lunch. As the weather turned cooler, I was craving something hot, and pairing warm nurungjitang (crispy rice soup) with tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), which the kids love, meant the whole family ate well without any fuss. Best of all, there was plenty of parking in front and behind the restaurant, making it easy to visit by car.

What is the Hanam Misa branch like at weekend lunch?

We visited during weekend lunchtime. When we arrived, the place was already nearly full, and a few people waiting were visible even while we ate. There were visits from families with grandparents down to families with young kids — lots of family groups overall.

The dining hall was spacious and the tables weren't crammed together. The generous parking right in front and to the side of the restaurant was also convenient. I get why so many people choose this place for family gatherings that need to move as a group. Since it gets busy at weekend lunchtime, if you don't like waiting, it's probably best to go a bit earlier.

Ordering seafood abalone rice soup and mini tangsuyuk

True to the name, there were various kinds of nurungjitang. There were also side dishes you can pair with it, like tangsuyuk, chili shrimp, yurinki, and palbochae. We ordered two of the signature seafood abalone rice soup, plus mini fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk and steamed rice.

A robot served the side dishes first. The family's reaction to them was good too — mom said the green onion kimchi was tasty, and my daughter liked the white kimchi so much she nearly finished a whole plate. Since nurungjitang itself is warm and soft, it paired really well with the green onion or white kimchi.

Any side dish we ran low on could be grabbed easily from the self-serve bar.

How is the seafood abalone rice soup served?

For the rice soup, a staff member pours the rice and broth into a hot stone pot right at the table. As the broth bubbled and hissed, the kids stared in wonder — it was fun to watch even before eating. The crispy rice softened as it soaked up the hot broth, and eating it together with the seafood worked really well. The broth wasn't too strong either, so it felt gentle on the stomach.

Since it's not something we eat often, having it after a while made it taste even better, and it had a heartiness different from regular jjajangmyeon or jjamppong.

Each person got their own individual serving, so everyone could eat comfortably. The rice soup alone was quite filling, but we added steamed rice too so we could share it with the kids.

The kids ate the seafood and crispy rice together well, so it was good for eating as a family.

Since we had kids with us, we also ordered the mini fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk.

The outside was chewy and the meat inside was tender. With two servings of rice soup already on the table, the mini size was just the right amount.

The tangsuyuk came with broccoli too, and the kids ate it well alongside the pork. If we'd only ordered the rice soup, the kids might have gotten a little bored, so I'm glad we ordered the tangsuyuk as well.
