Hanam Chinese restaurant for maesaengi abalone soup: O Hyeongje
In short
O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a spacious Chinese restaurant in Hanam, Gyeonggi, centered on nurungjitang. I had the 22,000 won maesaengi abalone nurungjitang and 26,000 won fresh tenderloin tangsuyuk, with comfortable window sofas for family meals. Verdict: a warming, generous choice for a family outing.

A great Chinese nurungjitang spot near Hanam Pungsan Station Perfect for a family meal or gathering with kids!
I often head to the Hanam Misa area for weekend outings, and I absolutely love Chinese-style nurungjitang (scorched-rice soup). Places that make nurungjitang their main dish are surprisingly rare, though,, and that is how I found O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch! My husband and I stopped by for a casual meal, and I immediately thought it would be absolutely perfect for a family gathering at a Chinese restaurant.
Getting to O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang in Hanam Misa and parking

Every time I visit the Hanam Misa area, it really feels like a proper getaway just outside Seoul.

The roomy parking area right in front of the restaurant was great!

It feels so far removed from the city, with lots of greenery and wide-open views. It is such a lovely neighborhood for a weekend drive, too. Love Hanam Misa 🫶
A spacious interior that is easy to enjoy with kids and parents

The restaurant was very spacious and pleasant, with zero sense of being cramped. The window seats had soft, sofa-like seating, so they would be comfortable for families with children or for bringing along elderly parents.

There was plenty of space between the tables, so even a group would not feel crowded. This sense of space is exactly why I would really recommend it to anyone looking for a Chinese restaurant for a family gathering.

Such a generously roomy scale compared with central Seoul~~~

There are lots of window-side seats, so the natural light is lovely, too.

They even have high chairs~!

The green view from the window-side seats is so nice~!

Happy family meals everywhere.

The self-service bar is stocked with seasoned vegetables and greens.

This is the selection of basic side dishes! Eating lots of vegetables first again today for slow aging, haha.

Stone-pot maesaengi abalone nurungjitang ₩22,000

What a generous-looking dish served in a stone pot! 💚 The scorched rice keeps cooking in the stone pot!! It is best to scoop it out as you eat so it does not stick too much to the bottom. The subtle ocean aroma unique to maesaengi (seaweed) rises right up—it looked so appetizing!

There was a generous amount of abalone, octopus, and shrimp to bite into. It was packed with wholesome ingredients such as broccoli, bok choy, and mushrooms, so every spoonful felt like nourishing food.

The broth was light yet deeply savory, so I kept reaching for another spoonful. Its biggest strength is that it comes in a pot, letting you enjoy the nurungji piping hot until the very end.

It is a menu item that suits autumn through winter perfectly. Anyone who loves seafood or is looking for a wholesome, nourishing meal would totally enjoy it.
Fresh tenderloin glutinous tangsuyuk ₩26,000

Tangsuyuk makes its entrance looking perfectly crisp outside and tender inside! Made with tenderloin, the coating was crunchy while the meat inside was soft. Dip it into the sweet tangsuyuk sauce and you just keep reaching for more. It was a satisfyingly filling amount for the two of us; I would have been sad if we had ordered the mini size.. This visit really reminded me that when it comes to Chinese tangsuyuk, you should order enough, haha.

A wonderfully wholesome and filling Chinese restaurant!
A Hanam outing that continued with a café after the meal
After filling up on rice, seafood, and tangsuyuk, it was the kind of meal that warmed both body and heart. It is rare to find a place where you can properly enjoy nurungjitang as the main dish, but this one has a wide variety and generous portions, so I think I will be craving it again!
With its spacious, pleasant dining room and window-side sofa seats, it is also an excellent choice for families with children or a meal with elderly parents.

After the meal, we received a 20% discount coupon for a large café nearby, which made for the perfect finish to a day out. If you are looking for a Chinese restaurant for a family gathering, I sincerely recommend O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch. ♥︎
