Solo lunch pasta with basil pesto at Pangyo café street's Raon Sik Tak

In short

Raon Sik Tak Pangyo Branch is a new Italian restaurant on the Pangyo café street in Baekhyeon-dong, Seongnam. Visiting solo on a weekday at 12:30, the writer ordered genovese paccheri (22,000 won) and a Bundaberg grapefruit drink, and was won over by the thick, rich house-made basil pesto and the mild pickled radish. With a wood-toned, European-garden interior that's great for photos or a date, it's a spot worth returning to for the wood-fired pizza.

A new opening on the Pangyo café street

The weather's been insane lately ㅜㅠ On a day this nice I couldn't just stay home, so I came back to the Pangyo café street after a while for a solo lunch and tried the newly opened "Raon Sik Tak"!

You can park at the Pangyo public parking lot — it's a 3-minute walk from there.

Even before going in, the Blue Ribbon sticker already had my expectations up.

An interior like a European garden

Walking into the restaurant, what is this vibe, it's like stepping into a European garden....♥ Already totally my taste. This would be perfect for a date.

The wood-toned interior lets the sunlight in, and I thought photos would come out great haha. I came for the pasta, but gotta grab some Instagram shots too, right?

Any wait at 12:30 on a weekday?

When I arrived around 12:30 it was pretty packed, so I thought I might have to wait, but luckily I got seated right away (yesss).

Hahat, came all by myself...

My solo pick: genovese paccheri

The main menu here is pizza, pasta, and potato gnocchi. I agonized over what to get.... it's a bit sad that going solo means you can't order a bunch of different dishes to try ㅜㅠ Telling myself that leaving something for next time means I get to come back, I ordered the genovese paccheri and a Bundaberg grapefruit this time.

Ta-daa.

The thickness of the house-made basil pesto

<Genovese paccheri, ₩22,000> Look at the color of that basil pesto... I've had a lot of basil pasta but I think this is the first time I've seen a basil pesto sauce this thick and rich. The menu said it's house-made basil pesto, and they clearly didn't hold back on the basil bb. Visual test: passed.

Paccheri noodles coated in thick basil pesto

Since the sauce itself has such a rich flavor, every bite brings out the nutty pistachio, cheese, and basil working together nicely. If you're someone who likes pistachio, this will really suit your taste ~ Zero greasiness, just pure nutty goodness through and through.

The pasta noodles weren't your usual noodle shape, so I basically scooped them up spoonful by spoonful, loaded with sauce haha. Man, the sauce was really the real deal... only regret is I wish there'd been bread to start with.

The pickles are mild and well done too

Koreans love having side dishes with everything, right...

A dish of radish pickles at Raon Sik Tak

This place does the pickles well too...(clap)(clap)(clap) I was surprised again — no sharp, in-your-face pickle taste. Did they make these themselves...? Barely any sourness, just this mild flavor where the radish's own taste comes through... and it didn't clash with the pasta at all.

Pasta plate emptied down to the sauce

Yep.... proof that I ate really well ^^^ Nearly scraped a hole through the plate. Definitely coming back here — next time I'm making sure to try the wood-fired pizza.

Table at Raon Sik Tak after finishing the meal

The restroom is also inside the restaurant, so you don't have to step out of the building. Had such a satisfying, delicious meal after a while, I'm in such a good mood ^^^ If you're looking for a good spot on the Pangyo café street, I highly, highly, highly recommend "Raon Sik Tak Pangyo Branch"~~~~
