Blue Ribbon Indian curry house in Bundang, corkage-free: Kari

I'd been craving Indian food for a while, so while searching for good curry spots I found one in Bundang with 9 Blue Ribbons — so I went to check it out.

Today's spot is ⭐️Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch⭐️. There's no weekday break time, so you can eat comfortably whenever you visit, and both the vibe and the food are great — I really want to recommend this place.

How to find Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch and where to park

Kari is located near Jeongja Station. If you're taking the subway, it's about a 5-minute walk from Jeongja Station. If you're driving, the underground parking at Dongyang Jeongja Paragon Complex 3 is convenient (2 hours of parking supported).

Kari is located on B1, so just look for this sign.

From the entrance I could already tell this was a good place — there were a lot of certification marks like Model Restaurant, Sharing Restaurant, and Business Saving Children stuck on the door.

And the Blue Ribbon mark that shows it's a real hidden gem. The number of ribbons shows how long and how many people have loved this place.

What is the interior of Kari like?

This is what the entrance looks like. The interior has an Indian-style design, but at the same time it also has a premium restaurant feel you don't usually see in other Indian places, which was surprising. The atmosphere is really nice and the waitstaff are friendly, so it seems like a great spot for a date too. There were waiting chairs by the entrance, so I guess there's a wait on weekends or busy hours.

The actual atmosphere inside is even better than in photos haha. There seemed to be a room-like space further inside, but we didn't go in, so I'm not sure exactly what it's like.

There was also a Taj Mahal-like structure in the middle, which made it even prettier.

What comes in the 56,000-won Kari couple set?

⭐️The Kari couple set⭐️ we had for dinner that day was made up as follows.

• Shrimp paneer salad
• Pakora (fried appetizer)
• 1 curry (chose butter chicken curry)
• Half tandoori chicken
• 2 naan or rice (chose butter naan + basmati rice)
• 2 drinks (chose plain lassi, chai tea)
• Dessert (yogurt ice cream)

That's seven different items, and the price is 56,000 won, so it felt like pretty good value.

Before ordering, we checked out the plates already set on the table — the table was pretty big, but I was also surprised at how big the plates were lol. But it actually made it really easy to portion out food later. The wet wipes were Cesco brand, so I snapped a photo of those too.

Eating the Kari couple set course by course

First, the drinks we ordered came out. The plain lassi tasted like the lassi you'd commonly get at any Indian restaurant, and the chai tea tasted kind of like a Gong Cha milk tea(?) — I really enjoyed it. (It was so good, I was sad the portion was a bit small ㅠㅠ)

Next, the appetizer salad came out — apparently topped with house-made Indian cheese (paneer). This was seriously delicious (the cheese especially 👍👍).

Then came the pakora. I wondered what pakora was, and it turned out to taste kind of like fried vegetables. It tasted familiar, which made it even better haha.

Is the tandoori chicken at Kari dry?

Next up was the tandoori chicken. At Indian restaurants, tandoori chicken is often dry, but here it was especially soft with the juices still in it.

It's even better with the sauce served alongside ㅠㅠㅠ.

Butter chicken curry with basmati rice and butter naan

Now for the main dish, the curry! I ordered the butter chicken curry, which had a rich buttery flavor and plenty of chicken in it. The curry itself was so tasty it went great with the rice, and dipping the naan or chicken in it was amazing too.

The rice is basmati rice — since it's Indian-style rice, the texture and shape were both different from Korean-style rice, which made it fun to eat.

The naan was butter naan. It was pretty large, good for sharing between two people.

After we finished eating, we called the waiter and they cleared the table and brought out dessert — today's dessert was ice cream. It was refreshing and a nice way to end the meal 😊

Verdict: corkage-free wine and no weekday break time

Kari Bundang Jeongja Café Branch has a really great atmosphere, and if you get the corkage-free coupon on Naver, you can bring your own drinks too. I also liked that there's no weekday break time, and I thought — no wonder it earned all those Blue Ribbons. That's the end of today's review — it was seriously delicious!!
