Seongnam bossam restaurant: ₩45,000 medium gabrisal shared by three
In short
Bossam Ae Kalguksu Seongnam Sangdaewon Branch is a gabrisal bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant on Geumsang-ro in Jungwon-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Three of us came for an early lunch, ordered the medium gabrisal bossam at ₩45,000, and it came with two free servings of kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) plus house-made green onion kimchi and geotjeori (fresh kimchi). The gabrisal was tender with no gamey smell, and with the noodle broth and self-bar rice, ₩45,000 filled up all three of us.

I had some business over in Seongnam, so I stopped for lunch at a local favorite in Sangdaewon-dong haha. Finding neighborhood restaurants is honestly the fun part! Hunting down good food in an unfamiliar area♥️

This place is famous around Seongnam as a great value spot. The set meals especially are impossible not to love.
Even at early lunchtime there were already customers, and more kept coming in haha.

There's also a spot for solo dining!

Is the ₩45,000 medium gabrisal bossam enough for three?
We ordered the gabrisal bossam medium (recommended for 3 people) at ₩45,000. It's a great bossam option for family meals or small gatherings. Soft gabrisal (pork shoulder blade) boiled pork, bossam kimchi, and free kalguksu — I'd recommend it for a family dinner out. Getting two servings of kalguksu free with the bossam order is the best thing ever♥️

Oh, do you see how good that green onion kimchi and geotjeori (fresh tossed kimchi) look? House-made kimchi is just on another level. As you know, kimchi is everything when it comes to bossam.
Salted shrimp, garlic, doenjang (soybean paste), cheongyang chili

The kalguksu that comes as a free side♥️

And here's today's main event.

How to eat gabrisal bossam at its best
Their signature gabrisal bossam is carefully boiled fresh every morning, keeping the texture clean and tender.
- One, eat a piece right away while it's warm. That's the best moment.
- Two, eating same-day boiled bossam together with the bossam kimchi lets you taste the deep, hand-made flavor.
- Three, load up a cabbage wrap with ssamjang (dipping sauce), salted shrimp, cheongyang chili, and garlic for a fuller bite.
- Four, if the meat has cooled, warm it briefly in the kalguksu broth to bring back the moisture.

So generous, right? Haha. It's enough for three people to eat until they're completely full.

Oh my, it's so soft and moist and tender. No gamey smell at all. This place really knows what they're doing! It was my first time trying gabrisal bossam — unlike samgyeopsal or mokssal (pork belly or neck), it's softer, cleaner, and not greasy at all, which I loved! Oh, gabrisal bossam has real charm♥️

What the free kalguksu is like and how to eat it
Once we finished the meat, it was time to enjoy the kalguksu♥️
- One, add the noodles and vegetables to the boiling seafood broth and simmer for 5–7 minutes.
- Two, taste the cool broth with a spoon first, then eat the noodles for a deeper flavor.
- Three, add dumplings or handmade noodle refills to your taste for extra variety.
- Four, finish off the remaining broth with rice and egg (extra order) for a hearty porridge.

Oh my, the broth is so clean and refreshing, and the noodle thickness and texture are great too — just as good as a dedicated kalguksu restaurant! And kalguksu pairs perfectly with geotjeori haha. Eating them together is pure happiness♥️

The self-bar and finishing the meal
At the self-bar you can help yourself to rice, kimchi, and more.

Instead of porridge, I just mixed some rice into the broth haha. It was a filling, satisfying meal😊
