Bukseongsu gnocchi set for two with butter whiskey: Brivite Seongsu
In short
Brivite Seongsu is a pasta and gnocchi restaurant in the Bukseongsu alley near Seongsu Station in Seongdong, Seoul. The two-person set menu (2 mains + 1 side + 2 drinks) brought salmon steak pasta, green onion cream corn gnocchi and spicy fried eggplant, plus a butter whiskey on the side. With ₩3,000 off, the set at Brivite Seongsu was better value than ordering each dish separately.

Bukseongsu again today. Bukseongsu part three, dun dun. After Pajak Omil, this time I went to Brivite Seongsu! The entrance always looked really appealing whenever I walked past it before.

And then there's the green onion cream corn gnocchi. Just the name alone is aggressive — my favorite combo, gnocchi + corn — so I really wanted to visit, and this was the perfect chance.

Right at the entrance, the signature menu item is posted. Dun dun.
Where is Brivite Seongsu? A short walk from Seongsu Station
Brivite Seongsu is located relatively close to Seongsu Station, which is unusual for Bukseongsu. There are a lot of restaurants around here aimed at office workers. If there's a wait, there are plenty of other good spots nearby, so it's worth trying even on weekends.

The entrance is so pink that I think it'll be easy to spot.
Inside Brivite Seongsu: table bells instead of calling out

The inside of Brivite Seongsu is quite spacious. True to being a date-spot restaurant in Seongsu, most of the tables are for two, with a few four-person tables.

What was unusual is that once you pick your menu, you ring this bell and a staff member comes over. Oh, fun~ I thought, but a few people were ringing it so hard that it startled me mid-bite. Rung gently, though, it makes a nice clear sound.

Water and pickles are self-serve, and there are chargers set up on the side too.
What the two-person set includes, and the ₩3,000 discount

I ordered the two-person set menu. It comes with 2 mains + 1 side + 2 drinks. Honestly, I first ordered items separately and then went, oh wait, the set is better — so the side came out later, not-so-secretly haha. Ordering the set gets you a ₩3,000 discount, so eating this way is better value.

Salmon steak pasta on a ragu base, with a spicy kick
The first dish out was the salmon steak pasta. Quick take: it was spicier than expected, and surprisingly it worked really well. Salmon steak usually comes with cream pasta, but here it's served over a ragu-based sauce. Salmon can get greasy, but the spicy ragu sauce wrapped around it nicely. I ordered it more for the ragu than the salmon, but I ended up enjoying the salmon just as much.

There's a generous amount of noodles too, so you can eat until full.

The salmon is sliced quite thick. It comes with a salmon sauce on the side, and mixing that with the ragu works really well together.

Green onion cream corn gnocchi: how strong is the corn flavor?
Next, finally, the much-anticipated green onion cream corn gnocchi. It was a delicious gnocchi, though the corn aroma wasn't as strong as I expected. Thinking about it, if the corn scent were too strong, the balance of flavors might've been off. It had really layered flavors — the green onion aroma, the nutty taste of the gnocchi, the cream sauce, the scent of the chopped olives on top, and the big chunks of bacon in the middle were so good.

Spicy fried eggplant side: why is it so crispy?
And the side dish I added on: spicy fried eggplant. Honestly, I've been obsessed with eggplant lately. I made eggplant fried rice at home and it was so good. Wanting to enjoy eggplant a different way, I ordered this fried version. Bottom line — I couldn't help but say, how is this eggplant so crispy?? The eggplant was cooked just right, the batter was super crispy, and it wasn't watery at all, so I got to eat it perfectly crunchy.

The dipping sauce that comes with it is spicy, and it went so well together.

Drinks at Brivite Seongsu: a first taste of butter whiskey
They also serve alcohol, so I tried the butter whiskey. I honestly don't know much about whiskey and just ordered it on a whim, but the aroma itself blended with the buttery note into something really fragrant. The taste itself was a bit bitter — though that might just be because I don't know whiskey well. The aroma alone made it a good experience. If you've never had whiskey before, I'd recommend trying it as a first step.
That's the review, done!
