Hi, this is Ttoromi :) My partner's hair had gotten so long and shaggy that I wanted to cut it neatly and try a style change, so I went looking for a men's hair specialist salon. I found one famous for going all-in on men's hair while keeping styles easy for daily upkeep, and headed straight over!

Inside Toro With Geek: floor-to-ceiling windows and shelves of figures

The salon has floor-to-ceiling windows, so it felt open and bright with the sunlight streaming in — vintage-y but hip. Little thoughtful touches for customer comfort stood out, like chargers and small snacks for sitting and waiting comfortably or getting your hair done. They must love anime, because anime figures were tucked everywhere, and it was fun to spot them one by one!

Even Gojo-sama was sitting on top of the tissue box .. 🕶️

There's a bathroom inside too, which was really convenient, and everything was kept spotlessly clean. Just looking at the bathroom tells you how much they care about cleanliness. Groot sitting on the sink was so cute lol

Before the service even started, they gave us cold, delicious coffee and juice — such a nice start .. ☺️❣️

Hair before the perm: thick, half-wavy and puffing out at the sides

Here's my partner's hair before the treatment — really shaggy and quite long, right ..?╥﹏╥ On top of that his hair is thick with a slight wave, so the sides puffed out a lot and everything looked stuffy overall. With the weather still hot, we wanted to switch to a look that seemed clean and cool, but between the two of us we couldn't figure out whether a perm was needed or a cut alone would do. So we asked designer Rocco for help finding the right style for his current hair.

Consultation with designer Rocco: why a down perm plus a swept-back fringe

The designer first carefully checked the current state of the hair, then gave a customized consultation considering face shape, hair condition, and his usual styling habits. Since the top was too short for a full perm right now, he suggested a down perm to press down the puffy sides, paired with sweeping the fringe back to show the forehead for a cleaner, cooler look.

But here's the really surprising part — earlier, just in passing, I'd mentioned to my partner that pushing his fringe back might look good. How the cut and down perm were done, step by step

Thanks to designer Rocco, the famous Geumho-dong men's hair specialist, cutting neatly and carefully, the long shaggy hair was steadily being trimmed away..

Even with just the cut it already looked much neater and cooler .ᐟ.ᐟ.ᐟ But the sides were still puffing up a bit, so next came the down perm and the fringe perm to sweep it back and show the forehead!

He was so warm and comfortable he started dozing off .. 💤 I couldn't wait to see the transformation, hehe

He looks so good ..? 🥹 It's much cleaner and more polished, and the fringe was swept back so cool and pretty — exactly the style we wanted 🤍 My partner usually just roughly blow-dries his hair and barely styles it otherwise, so I loved that this style comes together neatly with almost no extra effort. Plus the designer carefully walked us through everything from how to blow-dry it to simple styling tips, so even my all-thumbs partner could easily follow along at home!

I thought my partner would feel awkward with his fringe pushed back for the first time, but he loved it all day long. I loved it too .. ❣️ Beyond just the style, they carefully taught us how to maintain it at home, which made the whole experience even more satisfying .. 🥹
