Weekend family brunch café in Baekhyeon-dong, Pangyo: Eight Years

Lately, if the weather's decent in the morning, I find myself wanting a coffee outside rather than heading indoors. Especially on a weekend morning with family — instead of rushing through breakfast and dashing off, it's nice to start the day a little slower with a good brunch.

A brunch café where you can glance at a lush park and passing dogs while enjoying a moist sandwich and good coffee — a brief taste of a leisurely European morning right in the middle of Pangyo.

So that's where my family and I ended up going: Eight Years, on the Baekhyeon-dong café street.

Eight Years Pangyo: location, hours and parking

• 🚗 About 2 spots right in front and about 4 more in the space to the right. That side space is side-parking style, so you may need to move your car. If full, there's a public parking lot nearby on the Baekhyeon-dong café street.

Parking is always my first worry on the Pangyo café street, but I liked that this place has its own spots right in front and beside the store. It's not a huge lot, but being able to park right next to the shop in this neighborhood is a real perk.

What the inside of Eight Years Pangyo looks like

The store's tables and space run in a long vertical line, and at the end you can step out onto the terrace — which also means you can come in from the park side through the terrace into the store.

The interior is a simple white tone, which makes it look clean and pleasant, and the tables were spaced comfortably apart.

The inside was really clean too, but with the weather so nice, there was no hesitation — I headed straight for the terrace.

They kindly had kids' tableware too, so there were a lot of families out for the day — probably why there were so many strollers, and 'dog strollers,' around. Haha.

The park-side terrace and its European mood

But honestly, the terrace here was really something.

Right next door is a park, so you get a dense wall of trees, plus the natural sounds of kids yelling on the playground and people walking or jogging nearby.

People kept walking by with their dogs too, and honestly that was better ASMR than any artificial café music.

With lights strung along above the tables, sitting there looking at the green trees, for a second it felt less like Pangyo and more like having breakfast somewhere in Europe, haha.

How was the avocado chicken ciabatta sandwich?

Avocado chicken ciabatta sandwich and salad, plus a bagel, a café latte, and an americano.

The food was just as satisfying as the atmosphere.

The sandwich was that moist style I love — the bread wasn't dry at all, and the filling was really generous. Chicken, tomatoes, bell peppers, and vegetables piled in, so every bite came loaded with fillings. They even gave it wrapped in wax paper so you could hold it without a mess.

Avocado, no expense spared — ah, happiness.

What I especially liked was how generously they used the avocado. A lot of places call something an 'avocado sandwich' with just a few thin slices, but here you get several thick, chunky pieces — you can tell just from the photo.

The bagel with a thick layer of cream cheese

A perfect match with my favorite cream cheese — a moist, soft bagel.

Slathered with cream cheese, the bagel was soft and moist and worked great as a morning menu item. In my memory, bagels were usually a bit hard, kind of baguette-like, with some overly strong sauce inside...

But that cream cheese happens to be one I really love, and the bagel at this Bundang brunch favorite, Eight Years, was genuinely different!

How is the coffee, and does it match the brunch?

And the coffee was good too.

Honestly, to be a real Pangyo food destination, decent brunch alone isn't quite enough — but here, taking a sip of coffee after the food, the balance was right. Sitting with family on the terrace, eating sandwiches and a bagel while sipping coffee, my mood was pretty great right from the morning.

Eight ears or Eight Years? The name explained

By the way, when I first saw the name I thought it said EIGHT EARS. I thought, 'Does having eight ears mean they listen really well to customers? Are the staff amazing at serving?' — but it was actually YEARS. Haha. And honestly, since it's kiosk ordering with self-bussing, the staff wouldn't have much serving to do even with eight ears each. Haha.

Why Eight Years Pangyo is worth a second visit

A happy weekend morning listening to kids shouting in the park, dogs barking, people chatting, birds singing — all of it as ASMR.

If you're looking for a good brunch spot in Pangyo, the food is great, but it's the terrace that makes me want to come back. Sitting with family on a sunny morning, looking out at the park, greeting dogs, listening to the sounds of everyday life while eating slowly. Nothing fancy about it, but somehow this kind of time sticks with you for a long while.

Overall verdict on Eight Years Pangyo

• 🚗 Rare in the Pangyo café street, they even have their own parking space, which made it easy for a family brunch
