Weekend jjamppong with a 30-min wait in Milyang: Milyang Dol Jjamppong
In short
Milyang Dol Jjamppong is a stone-plate jjamppong (spicy noodle soup) Chinese restaurant on Baekmin-ro in Milyang, about 5 minutes by car from Yeongnamnu Pavilion. On a Saturday visit, a 30-minute wait via the Tabling app got the family seated at 1pm for two orders of scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong, a kids' jajangmyeon, and fried dumplings served on a 250-degree stone plate topped with bean sprouts and scorched rice. The wait was still going strong even at 2pm past peak time, but scraping up that last bit of scorched rice made the whole wait make sense.

We went to a family bathhouse in Changwon's Bukmyeon over the weekend and stopped by the Milyang Meteorological Science Museum on the way. After a full walk-through it was lunchtime, so I searched for good restaurants near Yeongnamnu in Milyang and decided to visit Milyang Dol Jjamppong.
5 minutes from Yeongnamnu Pavilion: where Milyang Dol Jjamppong is

Milyang Dol Jjamppong, a well-known spot near Yeongnamnu Pavilion, is located at 82-1 Baekmin-ro, 1F, Milyang, Gyeongsangnam-do. It's about 5 minutes from Yeongnamnu, so it's a great stop for a meal if you're visiting the pavilion on a weekend.
Weekend wait: 30 minutes with the Tabling app line-up
When we were still leaving the science museum, I called ahead to check the wait and was told there were about 10 parties waiting outside. So I joined the online line first through the Tabling app and checked in once we arrived at the restaurant.

We joined the line at 12:30pm and after about a 30-minute wait were seated at 1pm. I thought maybe that was just a busy moment, but around 2pm, when we were finishing up and leaving, there was still a wait going. On weekends, the line keeps going even past peak time.

Menu and what we ordered
The main menu includes the stone-plate jjamppong + tonto-tang (pork bone soup) set, whole squid stone-plate jjamppong, regular stone-plate jjamppong, stone-plate jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), kids' jajangmyeon, and dumplings. My husband and I ordered two servings of stone-plate jjamppong, plus a kids' jajangmyeon and fried dumplings for the kids.

Scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong, ₩25,000 for two
Scorched-rice stone-plate jjamppong for two people costs ₩25,000. It arrives sizzling on a 250-degree stone plate lined with scorched rice, topped generously with jjamppong and bean sprouts. The plate is genuinely hot, so be careful — we kept the kids at a safe distance.
Milyang Dol Jjamppong, the well-known spot near Yeongnamnu, really nails that sizzling visual — it looks amazing right off the bat. We were already hungry, and after 30 minutes of waiting we were even hungrier, so we demolished it happily. The spice level is adjustable, so you can order it exactly as spicy as you like.

Milyang Dol Jjamppong isn't your typical brothy jjamppong — think of it more as a stir-fried style. There's a light, thick sauce so you can mix it with rice, but the scorched rice underneath is the real kicker. The kids' jajangmyeon we ordered also arrived, and the three kids shared and ate that together.

Mix it in the moment the bean sprouts wilt
The bean sprouts piled on top should be mixed in right when they've just wilted, not overcooked, and then you can enjoy the stone-plate jjamppong mixed together.

Once you scoop off the jjamppong noodles, shrimp, squid and vegetables on top, there's still scorched rice underneath to enjoy as a bonus — plenty of food for everyone.

The three kids slurped up the kids' jajangmyeon and dumplings we'd ordered together — everyone said they were starving and dug in like a storm.

Fried dumplings, 8 pieces for ₩8,000
Fried dumplings, 8 pieces for ₩8,000. I was considering the handmade pork bone soup, but the kids wanted dumplings, so we ordered these instead — fried up nice and crispy, they were delicious as expected.

Receipt-review ade and the self-serve bar
At Milyang Dol Jjamppong, the well-known spot near Yeongnamnu, you get a pomegranate or green grape ade for free if you take part in a receipt review. So we grabbed our receipt and joined in too.

We scraped up every last bit of scorched rice from the stone-plate jjamppong and polished off the dumplings too, haha. After tasting the stone-plate jjamppong, I could totally see why everyone waits in line for it.

There's a self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant, so if you run out of side dishes while eating, you can grab more there.

At the entrance, there's yogurt, candy, coffee and tea set out as complimentary service, so we each drank a yogurt on our way out after the meal. Milyang Dol Jjamppong, the well-known spot near Yeongnamnu, is a great choice for a family meal out on the weekend.
