While traveling, I was looking for somewhere to sit down with a coffee and stopped by Flowerpot Cafe. At first I just meant to grab a coffee and leave, but once inside I found the place bigger than expected, with a surprisingly wide range of bakery items, so I ended up staying a while.

On top of the indoor space, there was even a terrace where you could sit and look at the outdoor scenery — a great bakery café to visit on a nice-weather day.

Finding Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery in Siheung mid-trip

The first thing I noticed on arrival was the fairly large building and the wide-open space around it. When picking a café on a trip, coffee and dessert matter, but so do parking and whether the space feels cramped.

From the outside, this felt less like a small neighborhood café and more like a large bakery café made for a proper mid-trip rest.

The weather was really nice that day, so the blue sky against the building's terrace looked lovely too. Even before going in, I thought, 'I could slow down and rest a bit here.'

The plant-filled first floor at Flowerpot Cafe

Walking into the first floor of Flowerpot Cafe, the space felt even more open than it looked from outside. What I liked most were the big plants placed here and there.

Instead of a room packed tight with tables, green plants and wood elements blended together naturally, giving it a garden-like feel even though it was indoors.

The tables were spaced fairly generously, making it easy to chat comfortably with company, and by the windows you could also take in the green scenery outside.

Near the first-floor entrance there was a sign asking people not to feed the stray cats, which showed a thoughtfulness that extended to animals too. The first floor turned out to be a pet-friendly area.

I ran into a cat by chance~~ it looked right at me while I was taking photos. So cute~

Second-floor bakery counter: pastries you pack yourself

The spot I lingered at longest in Flowerpot Cafe was, of course, the bakery corner. The display cases were filled with individually wrapped cookies and all kinds of baked goods, basket after basket. So many items were neatly packaged, they were great to eat right there or take with you.

Right as you go up to the second floor there's a self-packing station, with trays and tongs and the bakery display beside it. You know how you go to a café planning to just order coffee, and then the bakery case changes your mind? That's exactly what happened to me.

At the end of the display case, knives and forks were laid out for anyone to grab freely.

Coffee and dessert at Flowerpot Cafe

With so many bakery items on display, it wasn't easy to pick just one, and browsing through each dessert was half the fun. If you're a fan of bakery cafés, it's worth slowly touring the display case before ordering coffee. In the end, we couldn't just settle for coffee either.

With coffee and several desserts loaded onto the tray, it looked pretty generous just to look at.

Maybe it was the pretty view, but the cold iced coffee tasted better than usual somehow. Pairing it with sweet baked goods let me briefly forget the fatigue that had built up from traveling.

If you're visiting with a few people, it's nice to each pick something different and share bites around. You get to try more variety than ordering just one thing, which makes enjoying a bakery café that much more fun.

What is the third-floor outdoor terrace like?

Personally, the spot that impressed me most at Flowerpot Cafe was the outdoor terrace on the third floor. Open the door and step out, and you'll find a wide space laid with artificial grass and tables, with mountains, trees, and a quiet landscape spreading out around you.

There's a big shade canopy set up and lighting strung along too, so it seemed like it would feel great not just at midday but also as the sun starts to go down.

The day I visited, the sky was unusually blue and the sunlight was great, which made the view from the terrace even prettier. Unlike a busy downtown café, just sitting quietly looking at the surrounding mountains made it really feel like being on a trip.

It was great for photos too, and if the weather's cool, I'd say pick the outdoor seats over the indoor ones.

Is Flowerpot Cafe a good rest stop during a trip?

I first walked in just to grab a coffee mid-trip, but after spending time there, it ended up sticking with me.

The plant-filled interior felt relaxing, and browsing the bakery goods and pastries was fun on its own. Enjoying coffee and dessert together was great, but personally, what I loved most was the outdoor terrace with its view of the mountains and greenery.

Traveling to well-known tourist spots is great, but I think it's just as important to find a café you like along the way and take a moment to rest.

On a nice-weather day especially, order your coffee and dessert and sit on the outdoor terrace, taking in the surrounding view slowly. It can be a little comma in an otherwise busy travel schedule.

I also meant to stop by only briefly, but it was more comfortable than expected, so I ended up staying longer. If you want to enjoy spacious rooms, bakery goods, coffee, and nature all in one place, this café is worth a stop in the middle of your trip.
