We did an opening run at Yu-World and played until 6pm, so on our way home we headed to Gasyukgo Hakdong, just 10 minutes away, for dinner at a great Yeosu restaurant.
Gasyukgo Hakdong opening hours and closing days

Hours are 17:00 to 23:00, with no days off (open every day).
Gasyukgo serves quality meat alongside Yeosu's local specialty gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), running from 5pm to 11pm with no closed days, so we could eat there even on a Sunday before heading home.
Where do you park at Gasyukgo Hakdong?

There's the Seonso public parking lot near this Yeosu restaurant, but there are also white parking zones on both sides of the road right in front of the store, so it was convenient to park and walk straight in with our kid.
A certified Doduram Han-don pork store

I spotted the Doduram Han-don certification plaque at the entrance! You can also see the pork belly and other cuts they sell in advance, which is handy for first-time visitors to this Hakdong, Yeosu spot.
Inside the restaurant: can large groups be seated?
With its clean wood-tone interior, Gasyukgo Hakdong felt spotless for a BBQ place, not a trace of grease anywhere. Along with standard 4-person tables, they have 6-, 8-, and even 12-plus seating set up for groups, making it perfect for a family meal or gathering after playing at Yu-World.
Gasyukgo Hakdong menu and prices

For meat: half platter (500g / 2–3 servings) ₩49,000 (pork belly / yukhyangsal / neck), full platter (700g / 3–4 servings) ₩69,000 (pork belly / yukhyangsal / neck), aged pork belly ₩15,000, yukhyangsal ₩15,000, aged neck ₩15,000, gabrisal ₩17,000.
The owner told us pork belly, yukhyangsal, neck, and gabrisal are all aged before serving, so the marbling is great. You can order them individually, but the set menus are more reasonable, so we started with the full platter.

Side menu items: gat kimchi jjigae ₩6,000, gat bibim noodles ₩6,000, gat kimchi cold noodles ₩6,000, doenjang sulbap ₩8,000, jjapaghetti ₩5,000, hangover ramyeon ₩4,500, Gasyukgo fried rice (single serving available) ₩4,000, extra steamed egg ₩3,000, nurungji (single serving) ₩3,000.
I've been to a lot of Yeosu BBQ places, and I care as much about the variety of side dishes as I do the pork belly itself. Gasyukgo has a great range of desserts that both kids and adults love, which I really appreciated.
As an event, if you write a receipt review you get a free drink.
Table setting and side dishes at Gasyukgo Hakdong

The staff set the table quickly right after we ordered.

We were tired from the trip and heading home soon, so I really appreciated the lightning-fast setup.

The tangy gat kimchi and aged kimchi and bean sprouts get grilled together with the meat, and the side dishes included wasabi and shiitake wasabi to help us keep eating the pork belly endlessly.
The Gasyukgo full platter (700g)

Here comes the signature Gasyukgo full platter! All 700g, and it looked even more generous than that,
The thickness of the neck and pork belly cuts was next-level — when grilled thick like a steak, they hold in all the juices, which is exactly the style I prefer.
The scallion salad was made purely with scallions, no extras — totally satisfying!
And no need to grill it yourself — the staff handle the whole grilling service from start to finish!

Thanks to that, my friends and I got to chat comfortably, while the little troublemakers happily played Noblocks while waiting.

The bomb-style steamed egg comes free as standard, and extras are ₩3,000. Egg prices have gone up lately, so with such a generous portion at that price, we ordered one more.
Yukhyangsal (pork loin-belly cut)
After grilling it to the right doneness, they placed a piece on each of our plates and explained the cut too. Yukhyangsal turned out to be gabrisal!
It's the same cut as beef skirt steak, so it's known for its rich meaty aroma. We took turns dipping it in wasabi and wasabi shiitake.
Mokssal (pork neck)
Grilled steak-style, the aged neck had next-level juiciness I hadn't experienced at other Yeosu BBQ spots.
They cut it into bite-sized pieces for us, and we wrapped the rest in lettuce.

Since I like to eat a balance of carbs, protein and fat, I also ordered a bowl of rice and piled the tangy gat kimchi on top, eating it all up happily. They ship gat kimchi as gifts too, so if you like it, just ask the owner about ordering some.
Samgyeopsal (pork belly)
And of course, the cut everyone loves — pork belly!

The balance of lean meat and fat was great, melting in the mouth.
Ordering extra pork belly
With three adults and three kids, the full platter wasn't enough, so we added 2 servings of pork belly.

They grilled it thick, properly steak-style, once again.

The kids said it was so good they wanted to come back here specifically next time we visit Yu-World, instead of any other Yeosu BBQ place.
Doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice soup)

I first tried doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice soup) a while back and completely fell for it,

so when I saw this welcome dessert menu item at this Hakdong restaurant, I ordered it without hesitation.

It was packed with ingredients, and the tofu chunks were nice and big.
We piled on some gat kimchi too and devoured it in no time!
Is the corn ice cream free?

There was an ice cream machine at the entrance and I wondered — is this actually real?!

The owner kindly told us it's a thoughtful free dessert for customers after their meal, and told us to help ourselves as much as we wanted.
