I went back to Bueokgan Suwan Branch after a while 🤍 Bueokgan is a pretty famous Western-food restaurant in Gwangju, so I'd already been a few times, but this time I got a good chance to visit again haha

What is the atmosphere like at Bueokgan Suwan Branch?

The Bueokgan Suwan Branch space is much bigger than it looks in photos, and the tables aren't cramped together. It has a clean but warm feel, so it's good for dates and fine for groups too.

The interior vibe is so good 🥹 The restaurant is way bigger and nicer than photos suggest haha. It's clean but warm, and there are green plants everywhere that make the space feel even more comfortable 🌿 The window seats especially had a pretty atmosphere. Table spacing isn't cramped either, so it's good for dates and fine for group gatherings too. I actually came here once for a wedding invitation gathering, and I got why people pick this place for meetups haha.

At Bueokgan Suwan Branch, if there's a wait, you stand by outside the restaurant and they call you when your table's ready — good to keep in mind!

The restroom is inside and was clean.

The wine cellar had such good vibes I had to snap a photo haha. Pairing wine with the Western dishes here would probably set the mood nicely.

What we ordered at Bueokgan Suwan Branch

That day at Bueokgan Suwan Branch we ordered three things: vongole pasta, Pemanong jambon pizza, and lemonade. Picked carefully and order complete ✌🏻

The visuals were kind of insane... pasta and pizza this pretty, it just had to taste amazing 🫠🫠

Vongole pasta, 20,000 won

Bueokgan Suwan's vongole pasta is ₩20,000, and it's loaded with manila clams. The salty umami from the clams was soaked right into the noodles, so it never felt like plain oil pasta! There was just enough sauce coating the noodles too, so eaten with the clams the seasoning was spot on and slightly spicy — exactly right (*´˘`*)♡

If you like clams, you'll especially love this haha. Personally, eating it alongside the pizza that day, the vongole kept cutting cleanly through the richness of the pizza between bites — the combo of the two was great!!! I've had a lot of pastas at Bueokgan but this was my first time trying this one?! From now on I'm only getting vongole... it's so good 💗

Pemanong jambon pizza with green onion cream cheese, 24,000 won

The Pemanong jambon pizza is ₩24,000 — but this is where the real legend showed up. I genuinely met the pizza of my life. It's piled high with jambon (ham), and those little round dollops of green-onion cream cheese are the kicker. Eating it, my eyes literally went wide 👀

Oh, and 'pemanong' apparently means green onion in Jeju dialect! Anyway... the combo of green onion + cream cheese + jambon was so good... And I'm not much of a pizza eater — normally I can never manage more than 2 slices??? But this was the first time I ever ate 3 slices lol ^^^ Highly, highly recommend...

Ugh... I already want to eat this again tomorrow 🙄 Spreading that green-onion spread thick across the slice is pure bliss.

Lemonade, 6,500 won

The lemonade is ₩6,500. I like pairing something fizzy or an ade with Western food, and this lemonade matched the meal really well that day — recommend it haha 🍋 (the grapefruit ade here is also great,,)

Is Bueokgan Suwan Branch good for a date or a group meal?

• Bueokgan Suwan Branch had such a relaxed atmosphere that it was easy to chat comfortably over the meal ♥ Above all, the food was all so delicious, it was a happy day 🥰 Next time I visit I'm ordering the exact same menu again haha.
