I was looking for a place in Yeosu where I could eat pasta or pilaf while looking at the ocean, and I ended up at Ravenna, a well-known spot in Soho-dong, Yeosu.
I ordered the gat kimchi pilaf and the carbonara, and as soon as the food arrived I was surprised at how much bigger the portions were than I expected.
The gat kimchi pilaf especially — the menu lists it as a single serving, but to me it felt more like 1.3 servings.
There's parking right under the building, and the ocean is visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, so if you're looking for a nice-atmosphere Western-style restaurant in Yeosu, this one's worth considering.

Parking is a surprisingly important factor when you're going somewhere to eat in Yeosu.
Ravenna has parking right on the building's first floor, so it was easy to visit by car.
The building signboard clearly marks '1st floor parking / 2nd floor Italian restaurant Ravenna,' so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit.
You can already see the Soho-dong ocean from in front of the parking lot, so I felt like I was in Yeosu the moment I arrived.

The first thing that catches your eye when you walk into Ravenna is, of course, the ocean.
Seats are arranged along the floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can see the Soho-dong sea and the walking trail outside.
Rows of wine bottles are on display and the lighting is on the warmer side, so it felt a bit more atmospheric than your average family restaurant.
It seemed like a good spot for a date or a family dinner out too.
If you're looking for an ocean-view restaurant in Yeosu, this is definitely a plus.
Free house salad and bread before the meal
After we ordered, Ravenna first brought out house salad and bread.
The menu also states that every table gets free house salad and bread.
Spreading butter on the bread and eating it together with the salad was a nice light start while waiting for the main dish.
Having this kind of standard spread is a quiet strength of Ravenna.
Gat kimchi pilaf S at ₩17,900 — is that really one portion?
Of everything I ordered, the gat kimchi pilaf (mustard leaf kimchi fried rice) stuck with me the most.
It's also listed on the best-menu board inside the restaurant, so it seemed to be one of the signature dishes.
The S size is ₩17,900 and the menu marks it as a single serving.
But when it actually arrives, the plate is packed.
A large fried egg sits on top, and inside there's gat kimchi, vegetables, and meat, so it was much more filling than it looked.
Breaking the egg yolk and mixing it in added richness, and the distinct tang of the gat kimchi made it less greasy than a regular pilaf.
To me, it really felt closer to 1.3 servings than one.
Ordering two menu items between two people, we ended up quite full.
How the carbonara S pairs with the gat kimchi pilaf
The carbonara we ordered alongside it was also S size, ₩17,900.
It has a soft cream-sauce style, so it was good to alternate between it and the gat kimchi pilaf.
Going from the creamy carbonara over to the gat kimchi pilaf reset the richness each time, so the two dishes paired better than I expected.
If you're visiting as a pair, it might be a good idea to order one pilaf and one pasta and share.
An easy stop if you're near The Ocean Resort or Ungcheon
Ravenna is close to D-Ocean Resort and the waterpark, and it's within 10 minutes by car even from Ungcheon, so it wasn't much of a detour.
