Jeonju Hanok Village dakgangjeong spot, Shin Ramyun spicy: Mannyeon

I wanted to introduce Mannyeon Dakgangjeong, a snack spot I found in Jeonju's Hanok Village during my trip!!

Where is Mannyeon Dakgangjeong? On Taejo-ro, next to Jungang Elementary School

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong sits on Taejo-ro, the main street of Jeonju's Hanok Village, right where all the restaurants cluster next to Jungang Elementary School. It's a perfect spot to pick up a late-night snack before heading back to your accommodation.

Walking down the Hanok Village main street, the restaurants cluster right next to Jungang Elementary School, and that's where Mannyeon Dakgangjeong is haha. Great spot for grabbing a late-night snack before heading back to your place.

Mannyeon Dakgangjeong menu and prices

The menu has a good range — boneless dakgangjeong (mild/spicy/soy/cheese seasoning), shrimp gangjeong, and a half-and-half set haha.

Boneless dakgangjeong (large): ₩28,000 Boneless dakgangjeong (medium): ₩18,000 Half-and-half (large) set: ₩24,000

I ordered the spicy flavor since a lot of reviews said it was the best haha. The draft beer looked good too, so I got one glass at 500ml!

There seem to be more foreign visitors in the Hanok Village these days, and sure enough, there was an English menu.

Jjondeugi and slushy beer for 8,000 won

While waiting for our order, I noticed a lot of customers buying ppyondegi (a chewy rice snack) at Mannyeon Dakgangjeong. Ppyondegi with slushy beer is ₩8,000 — the portion is big and it goes perfectly with beer, so a lot of people were grabbing it along with a beer to take away!!

It really seems like the perfect drinking snack for the Hanok Village. On a nice day like this, walking around the Hanok Village with a slushy beer and ppyondegi sounds amazing~! haha

The seasoning looked tasty too, so I'm definitely trying that next time haha.

Our dakgangjeong was ready, so we packed it up and headed straight back to our accommodation haha. I hadn't been to Jeonju in a while and wanted to eat outside, but with low energy we decided to take it to go and eat at the place instead ㅠ

Spicy boneless dakgangjeong (medium): taste and portion size

The moment I opened the takeout box of Mannyeon's spicy dakgangjeong medium, a sweet-spicy smell hit me right away! It uses fruit-based sauce, which gives it a clean, sweet character!!

The batter was crispy, and with a high ratio of chicken leg meat it wasn't dry at all — very moist haha. We packed it up, wandered around for a bit, then got back to the accommodation, and even after cooling down it never got soggy — the outside stayed crisp while the inside stayed moist. It was really delicious. The sauce wasn't too sweet either, so it kept us coming back for more without getting sick of it.

And it wasn't as spicy as I expected, so even people who are weak with spicy food could probably enjoy it fine. We ordered the medium size, and the amount was so much I wondered at first if they'd given us the wrong order. Two of us ended up leaving some behind because we were too full lol.

How spicy is it, and does cream draft beer suit it?

The spicy sauce is cheongyang chili-based, so it's not super hot — maybe a bit spicier than Shin Ramyun?! We enjoyed it a lot haha. The cream draft beer we brought along paired really well with the dakgangjeong too~! If you're ordering in the Hanok Village, I highly recommend the draft beer as well!

Verdict: a late-night snack to take back from Jeonju Hanok Village

If you're visiting Jeonju, try picking up Mannyeon Dakgangjeong for a late-night snack or a bite between sightseeing~~!! I'd definitely go back!
