Pastry-topped pumpkin soup

Pastry soup, 10,000 won

This is a warm sweet pumpkin soup made in-house from real pumpkin, topped with pastry that you scoop up with a spoon — it's soft and sweet at the same time, and the freshly baked pastry pairs beautifully with it.

Basil pesto cream pasta topped with poached egg and arugula

The basil pesto cream pasta, which you eat by breaking the poached egg and mixing it with the arugula, was also set on the table together.

Truffle mushroom pizza finished with truffle oil and scallions

The truffle mushroom pizza is baked on a homemade tomato base piled generously with chewy mushrooms, then finished with truffle oil and chopped scallions.

The pizza dough in particular was so chewy and delicious that you could pull it apart on its own. With plenty of cheese and mushroom toppings piled on, it was an unbeatable combination!

Table spread with soup, pasta and pizza together

The seasoning overall was mild rather than sharp, so it felt light and clean — an easy meal to share with parents and kids.

Scooping up the pastry pumpkin soup with a spoon

My favorite dish at Bueokgan is actually this pumpkin soup, and topping it with pastry makes it even more filling and rich in flavor.

Cross-section of the well-baked pastry and pumpkin soup

The pastry was baked really well and paired perfectly with the pumpkin soup — soft, sweet, and easy for anyone to enjoy, plus the portion was generous enough to share. This is my favorite dish at this Suwan brunch spot, Bueokgan.

Forkful of basil pesto cream pasta

Basil pesto cream pasta, 18,000 won

The cream pasta with a basil pesto base wasn't greasy at all — the fragrant arugula and the nutty poached egg added a clean, light flavor to the cream pasta.

Cheese pull from a slice of truffle mushroom pizza

Truffle mushroom pizza, 22,000 won

With cheese cascading like a waterfall, the truffle mushroom pizza filled me up fast — each slice was hefty. The dough was chewy and got more delicious the more you ate.

The portion was so generous that we packed up the leftover pizza slices and enjoyed them again for dinner.
