Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki as hot as Shin Ramyun: Hyeonseonine
In short
Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a Korean snack restaurant in the underground passage beside Yeouido Station Exit 3, in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The Hyeonseonine Set brings broth tteokbokki (rice cakes in spicy broth), fish cake broth, mini gimbap (seaweed rice rolls), house-made sundae (blood sausage) and mixed fried snacks, with the medium spice level landing about as hot as Shin Ramyun and the soft wheat rice cakes soaking up the sauce. The set is too much for one person to finish, so Hyeonseonine Premium is good value.

What comes in the Hyeonseonine Set at this Yeouido tteokbokki spot

I stopped by Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, a tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cake) restaurant in Yeouido. It sits right along the passage from Yeouido Station toward Exit 3 and IFC Mall, so it's easy to reach by subway and a great stop when you're heading to IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul. This Seoul tteokbokki chain started in Yongsan and runs only directly-operated branches, so the taste stays consistent — I really like this place. Today, instead of the instant tteokbokki, I came back for the Hyeonseonine Set for the first time in a while.
Seating and how to reach Hyeonseonine Premium in IFC Mall

The space is mostly 2-person tables, good for solo dining, with some 4-person tables too, so it works well for nearby office workers during lunch. It's connected underground, so it's a good pick even on rainy days.

There are also outdoor seats beside the store, so overall there's quite a lot of seating.
The menu at Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch

They sell tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae (Korean blood sausage), mini gimbap, fish cake, and ramyeon individually, but ordering a set gives much better value, so I'd recommend choosing a set based on headcount. Today's Hyeonseonine Set comes with tteokbokki, fish cake broth, mini gimbap, house-made sundae, and mixed fried snacks — a plentiful portion even for one big eater, or enough for two. I couldn't finish it alone either — amazing value for the price.

Hyeonseonine's instant tteokbokki is also really good, so if it's your first visit, I'd recommend trying that too. Hyeonseonine might be the only place for instant tteokbokki in Yeouido.

For reference, here's the drinks and alcohol menu board, plus the review event notice.

Side dishes, salt, and cutlery are on the side of the table and at the self-serve bar — you can grab water there too.
How spicy is medium? Soft wheat rice cakes in the sauce
The Yeouido tteokbokki I love arrived — bright red, the Hyeonseonine Set. Hyeonseonine originally started out as a spicy tteokbokki restaurant, so you can choose your spice level when ordering; if you order spicy, it's really spicy, so I'd only recommend it if you can handle heat well. The medium spice level is about as hot as Shin Ramyun.

The set is packed with all the good stuff — broth tteokbokki, fish cake broth, mini gimbap, house-made sundae, mixed fried snacks. Here it comes!

The tteokbokki is broth-style, with rice cake and fish cake as the base. The wheat rice cake is so soft and chewy, soaking up the sauce — genuinely delicious. Hyeonseonine is a tteokbokki spot where the rice cake itself is that good.
The broth has just the right thickness, a deep savory flavor, and a subtle sweetness that's pretty addictive. Note that the regular tteokbokki and the instant tteokbokki taste different, so I'd recommend trying both and ordering to your taste.

Mini gimbap and house-made sundae in the set
It's called mini gimbap (seaweed rice roll), but the filling is packed — ham, pickled radish, egg, spinach — so it's very filling.

This isn't cheap sundae — it's genuinely delicious. Sundae should taste like this. The combination of glass noodles and pig's blood was excellent.

Isn't sundae and tteokbokki the classic Hyeonseonine combo?

In between, I kept sipping the refreshing fish cake broth.

Mixed fried snacks, refried before serving
The mixed fried snacks are fried once more so they arrive warm and crispy — a nice touch. The mix includes dumplings, vegetables, sweet potato, squid, and gimmari (seaweed-wrapped noodle rolls).

These go perfectly with the tteokbokki sauce too — I really think building the set around broth tteokbokki works so well here. Makes you want to dip everything in the sauce haha.

That was my review of Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, a Yeouido tteokbokki spot where I ate until I was stuffed. It was delicious, thank you!!!
