Bupyeong seafood restaurant A Set for three: Haemokjeong Bupyeong

"Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch" was where I met up with friends in Bupyeong — a restaurant specializing in seafood and meat dishes. I'd stumbled into one of their locations on a trip to Ganghwa Island once and loved it, so when I heard there was a branch in Bupyeong, I had to go.

Where is Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch, and is there parking?

Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch is on the 1st floor of Abuilding, 4 Hwarang-ro, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, just 483m from Baekun Station Exit 2. It's open daily from 11:00 to 21:50, with last order at 21:00.

"Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch" sits right on the corner of the Bupyeong Seo Girls' Middle School / Sangok Elementary intersection, so it really catches your eye. There's room for about 3–4 cars in the underground lot, and if you go past that and round the corner toward the front entrance, there's an above-ground lot with space for another 5–6 cars. If both are full, you can keep driving straight past the surface lot into a nearby apartment complex parking area (no barrier at the entrance). We couldn't find a spot in either restaurant lot, so we parked at the apartment complex and walked about 5 minutes to the restaurant.

There's a waitlist kiosk and guide sheet right at the entrance. We didn't have to wait at all since we'd reserved our menu ahead of time — the food came out quickly too. At the entrance there's a huge fish tank with live octopus and shellfish that really grab your attention. Other tables were eating the live octopus. I went back and forth on whether to order it myself, but decided to pass this time~~ Why? Because if I eat live octopus, I end up drinking too ㅠㅠ

Seating for groups and the self-serve side dish corner

As you can see, the interior is quite spacious with generous gaps between tables, making it great for group dinners or family gatherings. When I arrived at 7pm, the place was already buzzing with a big group dinner. The wide table spacing meant we weren't bothered much by the noise.

There's also a self-serve corner, not shown in the photos, where you can help yourself to as much cabbage salad, pickled peppers, dressed chives, and sauces as you like. The soy-pickled chili peppers were so good I went back for seconds twice — I'd recommend mixing them into the fried rice 👍

What's on the menu at Haemokjeong Bupyeong Branch?

True to being a seafood and meat specialist, the menu features abalone seafood braised ribs, the Haemokjeong Special, spicy braised pork ribs, and more dishes built around seafood and meat. I had the "Haemokjeong Special" at the Yeonsu main branch last year, and I remember it being incredibly generous, fresh, and tender 😁 Lots of other tables were ordering the "abalone seafood hot pot" too.

The 59,000 won Haemokjeong A Set for three adults

The three of us ordered the Haemokjeong A Set (₩59,000), made up of seafood braised ribs, mushroom kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) for one, and 2 pieces of fried squid, plus the flying fish roe snow cheese fried rice (₩6,000). The portion seemed just right for three adults.

The seafood braised ribs came loaded with pork ribs, a whole octopus, fish milt and roe, whole squid, and even tteokbokki rice cakes — plenty to pick through and enjoy. The dish arrives fully cooked, so you can eat it right after a quick simmer. We were so hungry that our chopsticks were already in before it even started bubbling 😂 By evening it had gotten chilly, so we went straight for the kalguksu broth first. The spicy, refreshing broth spread warmth through the whole body 😊

The squid in the braise was really tender, maybe because the pieces were small. The fish milt and roe had no fishy smell and weren't dry either. But the tteokbokki rice cakes came out a bit swollen and soft, which was disappointing — chewiness is everything for tteokbokki rice cakes. Rice cakes that have lost their chew... what's the point.

And of course, the meal ends with fried rice 👍👍 They stir-fry the rice, sprinkle on the snow cheese, fold it over to melt it all down, and then — one bite without hesitation, flying fish roe popping, savory cheese lingering in your mouth — and just like that, the meal's over. The fried rice was genuinely delicious, and it made for a great dinner in Bupyeong 😋
