Kid-friendly gopchang restaurant in Geomdan, Incheon: Ilpum Gopchang
In short
Ilpum Gopchang is a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) restaurant in Wondang-dong, Geomdan New Town, Incheon. The writer visited with two young children, ordering gopchang for the parents and a separately sold pork cutlet for the kids, and the table also received complimentary liver, tripe and kimchi mooksabal (cold kimchi broth). With the owner and staff grilling and cutting everything at the table, Ilpum Gopchang made an easy family dinner out with kids.

A gopchang restaurant that also sells pork cutlet for kids
Ilpum Gopchang in Geomdan New Town is a place we used to go often before we moved away :) After having my second, there wasn't much I could feed a baby at a gopchang place, so we stopped going for a while — but now that my kid eats pretty much anything, we finally came back after a long time :) Since Ilpum Gopchang sells kids' pork cutlet separately, when mom and dad want gopchang, the kids get to enjoy a tasty pork cutlet too, which is great ^^

Free liver and tripe with your order at Ilpum Gopchang

Before the main dishes arrived, they brought out raw liver and tripe as a free side. A lot of people go to a gopchang place hoping for fresh liver and tripe, and here it just comes automatically without ordering — a nice little snack while waiting for the gopchang to grill.

The liver had a soft texture, and dipping the tripe lightly in sesame oil sauce brought out its nice chewy bite. Sharing a piece each with my husband while we waited, it already felt like a proper gopchang night even before the main dish showed up. Note that liver and tripe availability can vary depending on the day's ingredients, so keep that in mind when you visit.

And one more thing — the free kimchi mooksabal (cold kimchi broth)! They pile in a whole block of slushy ice, so it stayed refreshingly cold the entire meal, which made it taste even better!
Gopchang grilled and cut at your table by the owner
What satisfied me most at Ilpum Gopchang was, as always, the generous portions. When you order gopchang, it doesn't just arrive alone — they load the grill with rice cakes, bean sprouts, chives, and other ingredients too.

As the bean sprouts and chives cooked in the savory fat rendering off the gopchang, the flavors blended together naturally. Eating the savory, chewy gopchang alongside the crunchy sprouts and fragrant chives cut the richness, and I kept reaching for more.

The chewy grilled rice cakes were also a treat. Visiting with the kids, I really appreciated having this variety of sides to go along with the gopchang.
The grill was piled high right from the start, which made for a mouth-watering photo, and the portion felt like plenty even for several people to share.
And the owner and staff grilled and even cut everything for us, so all we had to do was eat — that turned out to be surprisingly convenient ~ Grilling gopchang well is a real skill, after all ~

How generous is a second order of gopchang?

We enjoyed the first order of gopchang so much we wanted a bit more, so we ordered an extra round. At a lot of places, the extra order tends to look skimpier than the first.
At Ilpum Gopchang, though, the extra gopchang was served generously too, so we got to enjoy a full portion all the way to the end.

The extra gopchang was savory and chewy too, and my husband and I enjoyed it together. The kids' pork cutlet looked appetizing and came in a generous portion, so both kids ate their fill ^^

We even polished off a bibimbap at the end ^^
Is Ilpum Gopchang good for family gatherings and work dinners?
Even though it was a family outing with the kids, the restaurant felt comfortable and had high chairs ready, so we could eat without any worries. Since group bookings and reservations are possible, this could also be a good option for a family gathering, dinner with friends, or a work dinner spot in Geomdan New Town.
Generous portions of gopchang, a hearty spread of rice cakes, bean sprouts and chives, plus complimentary liver and tripe — if you're looking for a gopchang restaurant to visit with family in Geomdan New Town, give Ilpum Gopchang in Wondang-dong a try. It's a place my family would happily return to whenever we're craving gopchang again.
