Half-and-half jokbal for a guest dinner, pre-ordered takeout: Jangmo

In short

Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch is a jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotter) restaurant near Bupyeong Market Station in Incheon. With guests coming over, I pre-ordered and picked up a half-and-half front leg combo (original + garlic jokbal) plus a side of jaengban guksu (cold noodle platter), and everything came packed neatly by container, perfect for a home party or family gathering. The handmade garlic sauce is the highlight, so I'd recommend the garlic jokbal combo.

On a weekend evening, feeling a bit peckish, I was trying to decide what to eat when jokbal came to mind — that deep meaty aroma and chewy texture are just too tempting.

Jokbal near Bupyeong Market Station, picked up with a takeout reservation

There's a jokbal restaurant that everyone in the know around Bupyeong already knows about, so I stopped by on my way home from work. Guests were coming over to my place, so I'd made a reservation in advance to pick up takeout! It's none other than Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch. Consider me a regular starting today!!!

Thanks to the neat packaging, generous portions, and above all the hearty composition, the walk home felt a lot lighter. You can also park in the underground lot or wait right in front of the store!

What I ordered is the restaurant's signature combo: half-and-half front leg jokbal. You get to enjoy both the clean, savory original jokbal and the garlic jokbal piled with handmade garlic sauce together, which is really satisfying. ♥

The surface of the jokbal is glossy, and the ratio of lean meat to fat is just right, so it's appetizing even just to look at.

Detailed taste review of the signature menu

Plate of original front leg jokbal

1. Original front leg jokbal

No gamy smell at all — the faint aroma of medicinal herbs blends nicely with the natural savoriness of the meat. Using 100% domestic front leg meat with no mixed cuts, the lean meat is tender and the skin has a nice springy bite. Even the first bite, eaten plain without any sauce, is already well seasoned and full of deep flavor.

2. Garlic jokbal

This is on a whole different level from the mass-produced garlic syrups or overly sweet sauces you usually find. True to Jangmo Jokbal's habit of making even its garlic sauce from scratch, the pungent yet naturally sweet flavor perfectly cuts through the richness of the meat.

You can bite into actual garlic bits, which adds great texture, and the sauce soaks moistly into the meat so you never get tired of it, even down to the last piece. The garlic sauce is seriously the highlight.

3. Side jaengban guksu

The jaengban guksu (cold noodle platter) that's never missing from a jokbal spread is also seriously delicious. It's packed with crunchy cabbage, lettuce, carrots and other vegetables for great texture :) The tangy-sweet special sauce adds a spicy kick that pairs perfectly when wrapped up with the garlic jokbal or original jokbal.

This place delivers the deep flavor and consistent quality you'd expect from Jangmo Jokbal Bupyeong Market Station Branch. If you want a flavor that isn't overpowering but still lets you enjoy the deep taste of a handmade sauce, I strongly recommend the garlic jokbal combo! I'm literally drooling just writing this haha.

Tips for eating it as takeout

When you get takeout, everything comes packed neatly by container, which makes it great for a home party or family gathering menu. For the jaengban guksu, I recommend mixing the sauce and vegetables well with the noodles before they get soggy, and eating it alongside the jokbal. Thanks to Jangmo Jokbal, I had a delicious dinner :)
