Marine City date-night Chinese with tablet ordering: Bueokgan Chinese

In short

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is an ocean-view Chinese restaurant on the second floor above Subyeon Choego Pork Gukbap in Marine City, Haeundae, Busan. On a date night, the writer took a window seat and ordered black vinegar tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork loin), a spicy poached-egg octopus rice bowl and BUUK jjajangmyeon, with a "Very Excellent" restaurant hygiene grade, tablet ordering at every table and a sink by the entrance. For an ocean view plus genuinely good Chinese food, Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is the answer.

I've been going on a lot of dates in Marine City lately, and I finally made it to Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch, a place that had caught my eye for a while. It turned out to be a spot where you can fully enjoy a gorgeous ocean view while eating quality, delicious Chinese food — my satisfaction was very high.

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is located on the 2nd floor above Suybeon Choego Pork Gukbap! I liked the clean, modern white interior, and since there's an entrance leading up to the 2nd floor right beside Suybeon Choego Pork Gukbap, it was easy to find — a great spot to stop by while strolling around Marine City.

Once you go inside the entrance, there's an elevator connecting straight up to Bueokgan Chinese on the 2nd floor, which was really convenient! Restaurant hygiene grade: Very Excellent!!!!! A Marine City restaurant you can trust.

Inside: a spacious dining room, a private room and a sink at the entrance

I loved that the inside of Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is so spacious with no sense of crowding!! I liked it even more that there's a sink at the entrance where you can wash your hands~!! There's also a room set up inside, which looked great for private gatherings! The interior is so clean too... full marks!!

Ocean-view window seats and tablet ordering

We got lucky and one of the most popular window seats happened to be free, so we could sit right there!!! The weather was amazing that day too, so the view looked even more beautiful — the magic of already feeling like the food will taste good before even eating.... haha

It was nice to be able to order comfortably from a tablet at every table, and there's currently an event running where you get delicious eohyang mandu (fish-fragrance dumplings) if you write a receipt photo review, so I definitely recommend joining in!!!

Three dishes ordered for a Marine City date night

Maybe because we came hungry, there wasn't a single dish on the huge menu we'd skip.... After much deliberation, we ordered three dishes: black vinegar tangsuyuk, spicy poached-egg octopus rice bowl, and jjajangmyeon.

Even the water was to my taste... sipping a glass of water while looking out the window made the whole experience even more satisfying! It also looked like a great place to bring your parents.

The basic side dishes provided: pickled radish and jjasai!

We didn't wait long before the food was ready — great! Gorgeous dishes to match the gorgeous view!! Let me introduce them one by one :)

Our order: black vinegar tangsuyuk + spicy poached-egg octopus rice bowl + jjajangmyeon!! The visuals were amazing..! Along with the savory smoky aroma... my appetite exploded.

Black vinegar tangsuyuk: the best dish of the day

First up is the black vinegar tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)! It's tangsuyuk made with Chinese black vinegar, and this tangsuyuk... the depth of flavor was seriously insane!! It was easily the best dish we ordered that day! The vibe of my eyes widening after the first bite... The tangsuyuk sauce was tangy and sweet without being cloying, and the pork was crispy on the outside, fried light and soft — anyone visiting Bueokgan Chinese absolutely has to order this.

Even though the tangsuyuk sauce doesn't have a bunch of different vegetables — just onion and wood ear mushroom — it was somehow even more delicious.. totally my taste!!! A dish I'll definitely order again next time!

Spicy poached-egg octopus rice bowl

Next is the spicy poached-egg octopus rice bowl — Chinese-style spicy stir-fried octopus with a special seasoning, topped with a poached egg over rice.

The broth was on the wetter side, so it felt more moist than I expected, and once I broke the poached egg, a savory richness came through even more! With plump octopus and vegetables mixed in with the spicy sauce, it couldn't not be delicious!!!! I usually love Chinese-style bibimbap, and this really hit the spot for me!

The octopus was so plump, right? With that smoky aroma too, it felt twice or three times more delicious!

BUUK jjajangmyeon and its thick noodles

Next is the BUUK jjajangmyeon! Basic of basics!! I was torn since a lot of people seem to order ganjajang, but since it was our first visit, I was curious about the taste of regular jjajangmyeon, so I ordered that!

A bowl of BUUK jjajangmyeon

BUUK jjajangmyeon is made the traditional way, simmering thick chunks of pork with onion and napa cabbage over low heat for a long time, and the noodles were different from the jjajangmyeon I usually eat! The noodles were much thicker and had a great chewy texture!!

For anyone who wants to fully enjoy the gorgeous view of Haeundae's Dongbaekseom and Marine City while tasting quality Chinese food~!!! I highly recommend stopping by Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch at least once :)
