I had some errands to run in Seomyeon and was looking for a hearty lunch spot, so I stopped by Wonjo Busan Milmyeon Seomyeon Main Branch. Milmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) is one of those dishes that always comes to mind when I'm in Busan, and this time I paired the cool water-based noodles with dumplings and jeon (savory pancake), which made for a pretty filling meal.

It doesn't feel awkward to eat alone here, and the layout also works fine for groups, which makes it a good option if you're looking for a place to eat in Seomyeon.

There's also a self-serve bar where you can grab side dishes yourself, and I liked that there's a space where you can fry your own kimchi jeon.
Wonjo Busan Milmyeon menu and prices

That day I ordered water bibim milmyeon, dumplings, and jeon that I fried myself.

How does the mul-bibim milmyeon taste?
First up was the water bibim milmyeon. Even in photos, the broth looks refreshingly cold, right?

The noodles were topped with meat, cucumber, pickled radish, and a boiled egg, which made the bowl look appetizing.
The noodles had that signature chewy milmyeon texture, and paired with the cold broth, it made for a great lunch on a hot day.

The broth wasn't too intense or sharp — more of a clean, easy-to-drink style — which made me slurp the noodles down quickly.

Dumplings plus fry-your-own kimchi jeon: is the combo worth it?
I also ordered dumplings on the side, and the milmyeon-dumpling combo worked really well together.
Dipping the warm dumplings lightly in soy sauce, then going back for a bite of cool milmyeon, the contrast in temperature and texture was really enjoyable.

And I can't leave out the jeon I fried myself at the self-serve bar. Fried thin and crispy, it was great as a quick bite while waiting for the noodles, and also worked well as a side while eating.
If milmyeon alone feels like it's missing something, adding dumplings or jeon on the side is a good move.
