One of the soul foods you absolutely have to eat when visiting Jeju is a bowl of hot, rich gogigguksu (pork noodle soup), right?

On this trip to Jeju, I really wanted a foolproof, properly made bowl of pork noodle soup, so I carefully compared and searched through countless restaurants online. Among them, I picked Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch, which had especially good reviews from actual visitors and a reputation for nailing the basics — and went for lunch today.

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch is located on the 1st floor of 1143 Beonyeong-ro, Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, and operates intensively for just 6 hours a day, daily from 09:00 to 15:00. Inside Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch: a 100-car lot and a clean, roomy dining room

Even though it was a weekday lunchtime, the place was already packed with tourists and locals alike. Definitely lives up to its reputation as a famous Jeju pork noodle soup spot.

But what I liked as soon as I arrived was the spacious parking. Located right along Beonyeong-ro in Jocheon-eup, Jeju-si, it's easy to find, and the dedicated lot in front holds over 100 cars, so even during weekday peak hours there's zero parking stress — even beginner drivers could park comfortably.

The inside was even bigger than it looked from outside, and the tables were spaced comfortably apart. Even with so many customers, the flow never felt tangled and everything felt very well organized — I later found out the owner actually holds a certification as a professional organizer,

and personally handles hygiene and ingredient management strictly every day. That explains the overall cleanliness of the place.

Why the wait is worth it: free warm anchovy broth at the self-serve corner

Since Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch cooks the noodles fresh to order, there's about a 10-minute wait before the food arrives. But it wasn't boring at all, thanks to the warm anchovy broth set up at the self-serve corner.

Before the food arrived, I grabbed a cup of steaming, rich anchovy broth to sip, and it felt great — my stomach settled and my body warmed right up. Enjoying the broth leisurely like a cup of tea, the main dishes arrived before long.

Tender dombe pork and the kimchi worth four refills

We ordered the most popular combo — gogigguksu, bibim guksu, and dombe pork — all three. The freshly boiled dombe pork came out first, still piping hot.

They say they only use carefully selected Jeju black pork, and honestly, the meat had zero gamy smell, with a chewy yet tender texture that was excellent. But more than anything, the real hidden star of this place was the kimchi! The crunchy texture and the addictive umami of the seasoning were so good — delicious with the dombe pork, and absolutely perfect with the noodles.

No exaggeration, I think I refilled the kimchi alone about four times. There's a neatly arranged self-serve corner on one side of the store, so you can refill side dishes as much as you want without feeling awkward about it — very satisfying.

Gogi guksu with deep pork broth and spicy-sweet bibim guksu

Finally, the main gogigguksu arrived. The moment I took a sip of the broth, I let out an involuntary "ah, I really came to the right place." The rich, savory broth had a deep flavor without feeling greasy, and the noodles were just the right thickness — not too thin, not too thick — so the broth clung to them perfectly, filling my mouth completely.

Honestly, I'd strongly recommend this to everyone around me as one of the best pork noodle soup spots in Jeju.

The bibim guksu we also ordered came topped generously with black pork and crunchy vegetables. The sauce was a little spicy but also tangy-sweet, plenty to whet the appetite. Unless you really can't handle spice at all, this is a very appealing dish.

Personally, I preferred the rich, hearty gogigguksu more, but if you're visiting with two or more people, I'd recommend ordering both gogigguksu and bibim guksu to share, like we did.

While enjoying the meal, I looked around the restaurant and noticed thoughtful touches like baby chairs, kids' tableware, a microwave dedicated to warming baby food, and even hair ties. There was especially useful information for parents with young kids, so I went and checked the Naver store page myself!

Tip: visiting Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch with a baby or young child

Myeonjumak Jeju Main Branch apparently offers free 'baby noodles' for babies under 36 months. With baby chairs, kids' tableware sets, and even a microwave for warming baby food, there's no better place for families traveling Jeju with young children to eat with peace of mind.
