Gangnam hair salon ash matte brown tone-down for patchy hair: Beorn

Today I'm bringing you a review of a hair salon that people rave about near Gangnam-gu Office — Beorn Hair Cheongdam!

I get brown color regularly, but lately I've been worried about damage, so I'd only been doing root touch-ups. That left my whole head looking really patchy, with a lot of yellow and red tones showing through 🥹 I'd heard Beorn Hair does fast, clean color work, so I went to check it out 👀

This Gangnam hair salon, Beorn Hair Cheongdam, is a quick walk from Gangnam-gu Office Station! Once you step inside, the clean white-toned interior really catches your eye.

The service area was really spacious too! There were plenty of staff, so it'd be great for getting treatments done at the same time as a friend.

While I sat waiting for a bit, they brought me a drink and a snack!

The person in charge of my hair today was Designer Seonjun 🙇🏻‍♀️

Before: patchy brown hair from repeated root touch-ups

By the time I got to Beorn Hair Cheongdam, my hair was patchy from doing nothing but root touch-ups. It was basically this... shining in a whole rainbow of chestnut shades ^_^

Especially in the light, all this really unflattering yellow and red would come out — I honestly didn't even want to take pictures because of the color unevenness haha..

The before photos they took before the treatment were even worse lol. Looking at them now, I can't believe I walked around like that. Haha.

Ash matte brown, mixed a shade darker than requested

I wanted to get rid of all the yellow and red tones and go for a matte, ash-based color! Designer Seonjun said that since my hair was already pretty patchy, choosing a shade just slightly darker than what I wanted would give the cleanest result with the least unevenness. Since I'd handed over control of my chestnut mess of a head, I obviously just said, sure, whatever you think.

Did the dye sting a sensitive scalp at Beorn Hair Cheongdam?

Before starting the actual color, they carefully sprayed on a scalp protectant first! Then two people worked really fast, quickly applying the dye. I have a sensitive scalp so I usually tense up during color treatments, but here my scalp didn't sting at all! 👍🏻

After all the dye was applied, I waited a bit. I looked kind of like Astro Boy(?) at this point so I snapped a photo haha.

After they did a color test, a staff member washed my hair — and wow, they scrubbed it so satisfyingly that I was basically in heaven..😇🪽 They threw in a scalp massage and even a neck massage. (And honestly they were so kind through the whole process that it just put me in a good mood, hehe)

Okay everyone, before we get to the after photos, let's take one more look at my chestnut disaster hair.. even looking at it again, it's truly the worst.

After: ash matte brown with the yellow tones gone

And the result was ~~~~ this!!!!! 🤎🤎 Exactly what I wanted.. all the red and yellow tones completely gone, replaced by that ash and matte finish, see it? ..ㅠㅠ It might look a bit dark right now, but she said the more I wash it, the more it'll lighten a touch while keeping this same tone! A totally successful autumn tone-down ヾ(≧▽≦*)o And since they must use good-quality dye, my hair wasn't badly damaged either!

The blow-dry style was also shaped neatly to fit my face shape.

I'm also sneaking in a photo taken in natural light after the color. No more blazing-yellow chestnut hair — I feel like I've turned into a cool, put-together woman(^^). I've already decided I'm definitely coming back.
