Visiting at midday with his father and younger brother, the writer ordered three bowls of the ₩13,000 lunch special ppyeohaejangguk (pork bone hangover soup) by table QR code for ₩39,000 total, and found the meat generous with a good balance of seasoning and lean meat. The three read the spice level very differently, but two of them cleared their bowls.

Regular vs minari gomtang at a Wangsimni Korean restaurant: Geumnyeong

Geumnyeong Gomtang is a Korean restaurant in a converted house in Wangsimni, Seongdong, Seoul. Two of us ordered one regular gomtang (beef bone soup) and one minari gomtang (with water dropwort) to compare: the regular bowl was rich but never heavy, while the minari bowl was fragrant with a cleaner finish. Hyoeunok Gyeongju Branch is a Korean restaurant on Bukgun 3-gil near Bomun District in Gyeongju, known for its Ppyeoberest beef rib and bone hot pot. Eating with kids, the writer ordered the Ppyeoberest Original 25cm set for 65,900 won and worked through beef ribs and bones, shabu-shabu, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and gondre porridge, adding 10,000 won of shabu-shabu beef and one more kalguksu. With plenty of parking right in front, Hyoeunok made an easy lunch stop for a family trip.
