Naengmyeon and pork platter near Pyeongtaek Station: Seoul Myeonok
In short
Seoul Myeonok is a 60-year-old, three-generation naengmyeon (cold noodle) restaurant a 2-3 minute walk from Exit 1 of Pyeongtaek Station in Gyeonggi. Visiting as a pair, they ordered pyeongyang naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon with a half order of suyuk (boiled pork), wrapping the tender, odor-free pork with pollack salad and dried radish for a combo they loved. The Pyeongtaek-dong public parking lot offers 90 minutes free, so driving here isn't a hassle either.

Anyone else craving cold noodles near Pyeongtaek Station? I sure was — it got hot out a little while ago and I found myself dreaming of naengmyeon, so I headed to Seoul Myeonok, a well-known Pyeongtaek restaurant!
It's a 60-year-old cold noodle restaurant now run by the third generation, so it's famous as a Pyeongtaek naengmyeon spot (⁎⁍̴̀﹃ ⁍̴́⁎)♡ Let me share an honest review of the pyeongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, and half suyuk platter! 💖

How long's the wait? Catch Table waitlist registration
I visited during Saturday lunch hour worried there'd be a long wait with so many people around, but luckily I got seated right away when I arrived! That said, this is a popular spot that does get waits during typical weekend or summer lunch peak times. There's a Catch Table kiosk set up in the store, so if there's a wait, you just enter your phone number and register.

Interior
Even though it's a 60-year-old old-school restaurant, the interior is modern and kept clean, so it works fine for family visits or a date course too. There are tables ranging from two-seaters to spacious ones for larger groups, spaced comfortably apart.

Menu lineup
They have pyeongyang naengmyeon, bibim naengmyeon, suyuk (bossam-style boiled pork), braised short ribs, bulgogi, bindaetteok (mung bean pancake), king mandu, galbitang, and more. (I had the galbitang in winter and it was delicious too.)

What we ordered for two
I went with two people! Just noodles felt like it might be a little lacking, so we added a half suyuk platter.
- Pyeongyang naengmyeon
- Bibim naengmyeon
- Half suyuk platter
Ordering a full suyuk plate between two people can feel like too much in both portion and price, but they actually have a half-plate option!

Half suyuk platter
The suyuk comes out with no gamey smell at all, the meat tender and gently boiled. Ordering suyuk gets you ssamjang, salted shrimp, garlic, and chili along with dried radish and pollack salad as standard side dishes. Piling the pollack salad and dried radish right on top of a piece of pork and wrapping it up is jmt...🖤 And rolling a bite of pork into the cool noodle strands is a killer combo.

Pyeongyang naengmyeon
The pyeongyang naengmyeon combines dongchimi (radish water kimchi) broth with a deep stock, so it wasn't too bland. Rather than a strong seasoned taste, it's got that mild, understated umami that keeps pulling you back 👍🏻 It's a flavor that even naengmyeon beginners can enjoy comfortably.

Bibim naengmyeon
The sauce has that sweet-and-tangy flavor with a hint of nuttiness. When you order bibim naengmyeon, a cool broth comes on the side separately! At first I mixed it up with just the sauce to enjoy the pure bibim flavor, then around the middle when the seasoning felt a touch strong, I poured in a little of the cool broth and mixed it in — that way you can enjoy it deliciously all the way through.

🌟 Overall review and visit summary
Living up to its 60-year reputation, I enjoyed a truly satisfying meal — from the mild, deep pyeongyang naengmyeon to the sweet-tangy bibim naengmyeon to the tender suyuk. I finished the broth completely, wandtteok-certified clean! If you're near Pyeongtaek Station craving good pyeongyang naengmyeon, give Seoul Myeonok a try!
