Aged sirloin pork cutlet solo dining bar seats in Geomdan: Gyeomson

In short

Gyeomson Donkatsu Geomdan Branch is an aged pork cutlet restaurant on Wanjeong-ro in Geomdan, Incheon. The writer ordered the special sirloin cutlet and a cheese cutlet, dipping into salt, wasabi, and curry sauce, and found the meat quality butcher-shop level though the sirloin's breading was a bit off. There are bar-style seats for solo diners in this spacious restaurant.

Today I'm sharing my review of Gyeomson Donkatsu, a pork cutlet spot in Geomdan. It's been a while since I had pork cutlet. I got the meal voucher at 60% off, so I went to eat haha.

Location, hours, and parking

It's located at 46 Wanjeong-ro. Closed regularly on Mondays, open 11:00–21:00 with last order at 20:30. Parking is available~~

The look outside and inside

You can spot the exterior right away.

There's a parking lot, but it's not that big, so I'd recommend avoiding lunchtime if you're driving.

Inside it's table seating. It's a big space and the tables are spaced out generously, so it never felt cramped.

There are also bar-style seats, so solo diners could eat comfortably here too.

Special sirloin pork cutlet served as a full spread

How was the special sirloin cutlet and cheese katsu?

The pork cutlet finally arrived. Since it's the special, it came out as a neat, pretty full spread.

Cross-section of the aged sirloin pork cutlet

First, let's look at the sirloin cutlet. The meat itself had a good balance of fat and lean, which I liked. Since they use aged meat, the quality really showed.

What was a bit disappointing was the breading. It seems the frying temperature was a bit off, which caused it to fall away like this. But the meat itself was clearly excellent.

Now for the cheese katsu. It's packed with cheese, and this one seemed well-fried. The balance between the meat and cheese was nice.

Dipping in salt, wasabi, and curry sauce

As always, I find a light dip in salt and wasabi tastes best against the richness.

The wasabi was tasty and paired really well with the greasiness. The wasabi itself wasn't spicy.

Next I tried a light dip in curry sauce. There was also pork cutlet sauce, so I tried that too.

There was cabbage too, and crunchy vegetables really do go well with meat like this.

There was a squeeze of lemon too, and eating it alongside made everything taste even better.

Final thoughts and would I go back?

Another good meal today. The meat here is good enough that they could run this place as a butcher shop. It's clearly aged and the meat really was delicious, but the breading was a bit disappointing. If they just nailed the frying, this could be a truly amazing pork cutlet place. That part was a little lacking.

The restaurant being big was a plus. The floor space was generous, the tables were well spaced, and I could eat comfortably. There's parking too, so it's fine to drive, but since the lot is shared by several restaurants, I'd recommend going a bit early or a bit late to avoid peak lunch hours.

Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the meat quality is so good it's worth it. The meat is seriously insane. The sirloin was almost as tender as tenderloin, with great texture, and it didn't smell much either, which I liked. There was a slight pork smell, but unless you're sensitive, it's the kind of smell that just reads as delicious. It probably comes from being near the equipment, but it's a good smell, and dipping it in sauce or wasabi makes it taste harmonious and delicious.

Next time I come, I definitely want to try the tenderloin and see how the meat quality is there. I feel like this place could run as a butcher shop instead of a pork cutlet place. The meat shows real dedication — it's genuinely delicious and thick-cut, so it's one of the places I'd recommend. Naturally my chance of returning is 95%. That's my honest review after another tasty meal today.
