Maybe because the weather has gotten a little chilly lately, I kept craving a spicy, piping-hot bowl of broth. I had an errand in Bucheon’s Jung-dong area that day, and since I wanted Chinese food for the first time in a while, I visited Jjambbong Jijon (짬뽕지존) Bucheon Jung-dong Branch. I’m already a big jjamppong fan, so I stopped in while looking for a jjamppong place in Bucheon. The restaurant was quite spacious and clean, making it a comfortable place for a meal.

Near Jungang Park, with public parking support
It is located near Jungang Park, and the restaurant provides support if you use the public parking lot right in front, so it was easy to visit comfortably.

₩7,000 jjajangmyeon event
One thing that caught my eye that day was the ₩7,000 jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) event posted out front for the restaurant’s fifth anniversary. Since it was discounted from the regular price, it seemed like a good chance for jjajangmyeon lovers, as well as jjamppong fans, to order without much 부담. Just keep in mind that the event price and period may vary depending on when you visit.

Plenty of seats and table ordering screens
The restaurant already looked quite large from outside, but once I went in, there were more seats than I expected. The tables were not cramped together, and the overall atmosphere was clean, so it looked fine even for dining alone. In particular, every table had a screen, like a kiosk, where you could browse the menu and order, making it easy to take your time choosing. Photos were included with the menu items too, which made it easy to see what each dish was.

A self-service corner for side dishes and rice
Choosing from the menu was fun, and I really loved that the self-service corner had various side dishes, baby spoons, small plates, and more! After finishing the noodles, you can also help yourself to unlimited rice, haha.

Jjamppong with spicy broth and generous ingredients
I ordered mainly jjamppong that day, and as you would expect from a jjamppong specialist, I loved the warming, spicy character of the broth. It was nice that every sip came with a variety of ingredients to chew on, and the noodles went well with the soup too. Personally, when I eat jjamppong, I prefer broth that is not simply too hot but has a spicy depth that keeps me reaching for another spoonful. The option to adjust the spice level here was a nice touch as well.

The portion was seriously generous, and there were so many ingredients that the textures really came through, haha. The broth was refreshing too, so I ate it in a blur!! I just kept inhaling it and ended up finishing it without even realizing.

A self bar that was great for rice in the broth
One part I liked while eating was the self bar. You can bring over side dishes and anything else you need yourself, and there is rice too, so I think people who like to mix rice into their soup would find it quite satisfying. The restaurant’s introduction also says that the self bar offers various side dishes and rice. Overall, the dining area was spacious and arranged for convenient use, so it looked suitable for families or groups having a meal together.

Review-event dumplings and generous tangsuyuk
These were the dumplings I received through the review event, and they were seriously, seriously delicious. They were completely different from the fried dumplings I usually eat, so if you visit, I definitely recommend trying them.

The tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) also came in a very generous portion! The sides were excellent too, so I really, really recommend trying them!!

The tangsuyuk sauce was delicious, and it came with sweet potato too—every single thing was tasty, haha. I could see why so many people visit!!

For days when you crave a spicy broth
Jjambbong Jijon Bucheon Jung-dong Branch was a good place to go when I wanted spicy jjamppong in Bucheon’s Jung-dong. The menu selection was especially varied and the restaurant was spacious, making it easy to choose something that suits your taste. If you are looking for somewhere to eat around Jung-dong or Bucheon City Hall Station, it is worth stopping by at least once! It would be a nice place to visit on a day when you suddenly crave a spicy broth like I did. If you love jjamppong, stop by when you are thinking of a hot bowl of soup :)
