Seongsu date-course ramen: Indian curry & tomato ramen sets at Menya
In short
Menya Pomo Seongsu Branch is a tomato ramen restaurant tucked in a Yeonmujang-gil alley in Seongsu, Seoul. Two friends split a set of Indian-style curry tomato ramen and classic tomato ramen, each set coming with risotto and gara-age (Japanese fried chicken), plus a self-serve bar for unlimited side dishes and rice, and even a drawer of hair ties. It's an easy stop to slot into a Seongsu date course before hitting the cafés and pop-up stores nearby.

A Seongsu date course recommendation: Menya Pomo, a ramen spot in a Seongsu hotspot. 📸 Visited 2026.09.04
The basics on this Seongsu hotspot, Menya Pomo

If you want something other than standard Japanese ramen in Seongsu, I'd recommend Menya Pomo, which serves a distinctive tomato ramen. It sits in a Seongsu alley, so it's easy to combine with the many cafés and restaurants around it. Seongsu has so many good restaurants and cafés that it's often hard to decide where to go, so this time I got dinner out of the way first, then moved on to explore the cafés and other Seongsu hotspots nearby.
What's the interior like at this ramen restaurant?

Walking in, I liked that the interior was clean and tidy rather than the usual Japanese-ramen-shop vibe. That Japanese-style feel is hip but can also feel cluttered, whereas Menya Pomo felt clean, which made it nice for a date. Seongsu has a lot of photogenic, atmospheric spaces, and Menya Pomo was one where you could enjoy both the food and the interior.

It felt comfortable for hanging out with friends, and just as good for an intimate meal with a partner! On the wall there were tips for eating the ramen the best way, and the order screen let you fine-tune the spice level, which I liked. If you and your partner love spicy food, this is a Seongsu date course where you can really enjoy a spicy bowl.

A self-serve bar with unlimited side dishes and rice
I loved that there was a self-serve bar with unlimited side dishes and rice. It's basically enough for guys with big appetites to eat their fill, which is probably why this Seongsu hotspot is popular with men too.
Hair ties for female customers
There were hair ties in a drawer, which was convenient. My friend and I both have long hair, so we made good use of them before the meal started.
The Seongsu ramen sets we enjoyed

Once we sat down and looked at the menu, there were so many ramen options that we paused for a moment. But since we'd come to a tomato ramen restaurant, we went with the set menus that come with risotto and gara-age. I love curry, so I chose the Indian-style, while my friend went with the classic tomato ramen. It felt like the perfect lineup for a light but filling meal at this Seongsu hotspot.

A salad that's a must for any date course
I liked that the chicken salad also had protein. The chicken was tender, and being a potato salad, it had a flavor kids could enjoy without any issue too. It's a flavor women tend to like, so if you're on a Seongsu date, definitely order this!

A flavor I'd recommend to anyone who loves curry
I really love curry, and the slightly sweet tomato flavor paired really well with the spicy curry aroma. It came topped with ground meat and a poached egg, so it wasn't just a bowl of carbs, which I appreciated. The noodles had a tantanmen-like texture too, which felt unique. Mushrooms and eggplant go really well with the curry, so definitely try adding those!

Cheese rice that gives you a taste of risotto
The slightly spicy broth combined with the cheese rice made for an even more filling finish to the meal. The rice portion was a full bowl, so with just this one menu I got to enjoy two flavors — ramen and risotto — in one.

Ramen with the sweetness and spice of tomato
I liked that this wasn't a heavy, greasy broth made from pork bone, but a clean flavor built on tomato and spice. If you want something lighter rather than a heavy meal, I'd recommend this. My friend and I both really enjoyed it on our Seongsu date.

Ramen that felt like tantanmen
Compared to the curry ramen, the broth was clearer and thinner, almost like something you'd have as a hangover cure. It was delicious even without adding any extra toppings.

A broth cleaner than the Indian curry ramen
Since the broth wasn't thick, turning it into risotto felt more like eating rabap (rice mixed into broth). We ended up seriously full.
If you spend a Seongsu date course hopping between cafés only, you actually get hungry faster than you'd expect. 😂 If you want to fit in a solid meal in the middle of a Seongsu date, something quick to eat like ramen works well too. Being able to enjoy good food and an atmospheric space together made hunting for Seongsu restaurants that much more fun.
Why I'd recommend it for a Seongsu date course

So why would I recommend Menya Pomo as part of a Seongsu date course? The biggest reason was the location and the flow of the route. In Seongsu, people rarely just visit one restaurant and head home — they usually explore the surrounding cafés, boutiques, and pop-up stores too.

Since it's a ramen restaurant right on the street leading to the pop-up stores, it was easy to build a date course around it. So I'd recommend Menya Pomo to anyone who wants a good meal along with the current Seongsu hotspot vibe. It's also a great place to grab a relaxed meal with a friend or partner and then stroll and chat through the Seongsu alleys afterward — I felt it fit nicely into a Seongsu date course.
My overall take after visiting
Having been there myself, Menya Pomo was a great place to start a date in Seongsu with a satisfying bowl of Japanese-style ramen. What I liked most was how well the ramen menu matched Seongsu's distinctive, atmospheric mood. If you're hunting for good food in Seongsu, try planning a Seongsu date course that continues on to the nearby cafés and pop-ups after your meal. Especially recommended if you want to squeeze in a proper meal while touring today's Seongsu hotspots! Next time I visit Seongsu, I want to build a course around a different café.
