What comes with the 11,000-won tenbukkake udon

The first dish we chose was the tenbukkake udon for ₩11,000.

It comes with salad, inari sushi (fried tofu pocket rice), diced radish kimchi, and pickled radish, and it's a cold udon topped with crispy tempura (1 shrimp, 1 sweet pumpkin) that you mix in with chilled tsuyu sauce 🤍

It's Kosi Konkuk University Branch's signature dish, hehe.

Half-and-half katsu, 13,000 won: fresh loin and cheese in one plate

The tonkatsu arrived too~~>< I ordered the half-and-half katsu (₩13,000), which lets you taste both fresh loin katsu and cheese katsu at once.

Kosi is great at both udon and fried food, so you really have to order both.

First, a refreshing salad to munch on before the meal to help prevent a blood sugar spike.

After pouring in chilled tsuyu to taste and mixing it well, one bite left me in awe 🤩

How do Kosi's 48-hour house-made noodles taste?

True to its Life's Masters fame, the noodles looked amazing right from the start. Apparently they're made using only three ingredients — salt, water, and flour — through primary and secondary fermentation, taking a full 48 hours in the traditional Sanuki style.

Tasting them for real, the noodles were bouncy and full of elasticity — chewy enough that I could really feel what the Japanese call 'koshi' (bite/chew). I recently got back from a trip to Japan, and it felt like I was eating in Japan all over again.

Cold udon served with shrimp tempura and sweet pumpkin tempura

The shrimp tempura and sweet pumpkin tempura on top of the udon had completely crispy batter, so they were delicious mixed into the cold udon, and just as great enjoyed separately for the crunchy texture on its own; plus with the inari sushi, diced radish kimchi, and pickled radish on the side, it was perfect 😋

Cheese katsu vs. handmade fresh loin katsu

Cheese katsu!!

Domestic pork stuffed generously with natural mozzarella cheese — the cheese stretches out for miles.

Stretchy melted cheese in handmade cheese katsu

I truly love this flavorful cheese katsu,,

Cross-section of crispy-outside, juicy-inside fresh loin handmade katsu

The fresh loin handmade katsu — domestic chilled pork loin seasoned, then fried with milk and moist breadcrumbs — is crispy outside, juicy inside, an absolute masterpiece. Very tasty 🫶🏻

Alternating between the savory cheese katsu and the juicy fresh loin katsu, before I knew it the plates were completely empty. We really ate well and heartily!

Final verdict on Kosi Konkuk University Branch

My overall review after visiting Kosi Konkuk University Branch again after a long while! From the chewy elasticity of the udon noodles to the crispy, moist tonkatsu, I got to enjoy a delicious meal from start to finish.

If you're planning a delicious date around Konkuk University, or if you want to try proper self-made udon and tonkatsu, I strongly recommend paying a visit here!! 🥰

You can really feel the warm care put into the food, and the staff were super friendly too, so of course Eunming has a 2000% intention to come back.
